Sophisticated boutique hotel

We were only in Barcelona for an overnight stay after a cruise, but this hotel was extremely convenient to the Cathedral, Picasso museum as well as terrific restaurants and night life. We loved this small but well run boutique hotel and would love to have spent more time here as well as in Barcelona.

Excellent hotel

The Duquesa de Cardona was situated perfectly, across from the Port Vell marina and a short walk to La Ramblas, Barceloneta and all public transportation. The staff was very friendly and the room was very nice. Their sangria was the best I’ve had and it was nice to drink it from the rooftop bar while overlooking the harbor. I would definitely stay there again and have already recommended it to others traveling to Barcelona.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The hotel was just a short walk to the tourist center on La Ramblas, where it was perfect to buy a 1 or 2-day red bus touristic pass that took you to all the major sites in Barcelona. I highly recommend using this open-air bus as you can hop on and off all day and spend as much time as you like at the various locations.

Great Location, Good Views

Very pleasant hotel in a great location along the waterfront. Convenient access to the metro system was a big plus, but it’s also a short, pleasant walk to Las Ramblas, Barri Gotic, and Barceloneta. Room was on the small side and had no view, but was nonetheless comfortable - and why spend time in your room when you’re in Barcelona. One criticism would be the lack of good Internet access - in-room wireless was ridiculously expensive and the free access from the "business center" was slow and unreliable. At a hotel in this price range, would expect Internet to be free.

Excellent value at the edge of the Gothic Quarter

The service at the Duquesa de Cardona is excellent, the staff professional, polite, and efficient. There is a restaurant (not cheap) and a lovely terrace bar (ditto). The location is excellent: just a few steps away is the Barri Gotic, with magnificent medievel architecture and intriguing bars and restaurants. About 15 minutes’ walk takes you to Santa Maria del Mar and the colorful Born (old waterfront area).

Traveler's tip on local attractions

From the hotel you can walk in about 10 minutes to the Columbus statue, where you can board the Bus Turistic, which for a fixed price will take you all around town (on three different routes) between nine a.m. and nine p.m. You can get on and off as often as you like. Just a few steps from the hotel is the medieval quarter or Barri Gotic, including the magnificent Cathedral.

Great port location

Great location to stay before or after a cruise. Safe and clean hotel but the noise in the front from taffic and noise on the back alley can interupt sleep.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Definately walk to Colombus Circle and buy the Tourist Bus ticket for the hop on hop off city tour. Can’t beat the price or convenience.

Great Location

Hotel was in an excellent location easy walk to great Restaurants, Marina, Gothic Quarter and a convenient Metro Stop. Staff was fantastic and extremely helpful. Only downside was that rooms facing main Boulevard in front and street located behind Hotel are noisy long into the night. A set of earplugs went a long way to make our stay enjoyable. (Please note we live in the country and are not used to a lot of urban noise).

Great location, somewhat overpriced

The location is the best feature of this hotel. Blocks from La Rambla, within walking distance of Barcelona’s first rate transport system, and all the sightseeing, shopping, and local eateries you can handle. The establishment is a little expensive for what you get, with the rooms being extremely average for Europe, but the service staff is very good, and the buffet breakfast is quite good considering it’s also quite spendy. I would stay there again just for the locale.

Great Hotel

Great hotel in a great location. The only drawback is that it is a boutique hotel so our taxi driver wasn’t familiar with it, but luckily I had the address.

Great Value

We spent one night at the hotel prior to our cruise departure from barcelona. the location was great. The upstairs rooftop lounge/pool area was great with spectacular view. we had adjoining rooms with our children which was very convenient. We would highly recommend this hotel.

It is very difficult to find rooms in Europe for a family of 4. this hotel offered 2 adjoining rooms which was convenient and very comfortable for all of us.

Great Place to Stay

This is a lovely hotel. The service is wonerful and the staff is very helpful. Best of all it was clean and comfortable and close to las Ramblas. I could even see it from my window/blacony. Have stayed here in the past and would stay here again in the future!

Traveler's tip on shopping

Although the euro to Dolar ratio is not the best for us Americans there wre nice shops and restaurants and I really enjoyed the nightlife.

Great location

Small and intimate and quiet, overlooking the marina and steps from the train station - the perfect respite from tourist/cruise ship hordes on the Ramblas. The rooftop bar, restaurant, sun deck, and plunge pool were quite welcome after exploring the city, all of which starts immediately behind the hotel.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Take the #14 bus to the beaches and be back in time for a pitcher of Cava Sangria on the roof.

Lovely and Elegant

This is a lovely hotel, just slightly off the hustle of Las Ramblas. Our room was spacious, the staff was friendly and very efficient and helpful (not to mention perfectly able to communicate in English). We would stay there again.

Lovely

Location, service and chicness of this hotel can’t be beat. Caution: the breakfast buffet is overpriced, there is no sea view unless your room is above the 4th floor and the "pool" is only about 6x12 feet in size (a jacuzzi, really) but these are minor drawbacks. This is a great bet for those looking for an upscale boutique hotel well-placed amongst the joys of Barcelona.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Get a seaview room on an upper floor

Super service

Our stay was wonderful. The service was truly excellent. In fact, it nearly saved our entire trip as I was kindly offered a crutch and any other help I needed when I injured my ankle. The staff was great! The room was very clean and comfortable but small (by American standards) and the view from the top floor should not be missed. It was nice to be away from the crowds on Las Ramblas but that did require a little extra walking to get to places. Overall, a wonderful experience.

New Year (2006) in Barcelona

This hotel was a great surprise during our new year holiday. The hotel itself is a boutique hotel with about 40 rooms. The lobby is nicely appointed and the staff was more than accomodating to all our requests. We even received a nice bottle of whiskey delivered to our room for new years. The top floor terrace was a great place to have a drink or read. Since it was winter, we always enjoyed the terrace to ourself. There is a convenience mini bar in the room and the prices were very fair. Rooms are a little bit small, but nicely appointed. The bathrooms are very nice. There were bathrobes available. I did not use the hotel restaurant since there are so many other opportunities for breakfast, lunch and dinner nearby. Location is great, just exit the hotel and make a right in the Carrer Arago and it will essentially take all the way to Placa Espana via the gothic quater and el born district.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

We will recommend the restaurant Sucur for dinner, we have here our best dinners during our stay. The restaurant is locaded in the Carrer Arago, just like 4-5 min from hotel, prices were on point. We also recommend the four gats (In Mostio street)and Quinze Nitz in Placa Reial. To avoid are "El Gran Cafe and the very expensive 311 restaurant in the Meridien hotel. Our dinner for two at this hotel was our worst in Barcelona, terrible and about 160 Euros.
