always enjoy the carlton.
Staying at The Carlton hotel is always a pleasure. This was my 2nd time there. Thanks to the fantastic rate we got on expedia, we got a great room on the club floors. The location of the hotel is very nice as it keeps you away from the touristy crowds, yet you are not too far away from anything. The nearby shopping complexes like the Raffles mall, Suntec city mall and Bugis junction...give you a range of shopping. For art lovers you are at the right location...the beach road is the place for art supplies(Art Friend at Bras Basah complex is just behind the hotel) and galleries. There is also a toy museum nearby.

Great stay!
I came out to Singapore and stayed several days at the Carlton. I found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable, and the service to be very timely and good. Location was good, as it was only a two-block walk to the MRT, which takes you about anywhere you want to go. Most of the workers speak English, so they can help you out with just about anything you need. The only thing bad about our stay was the expensive breakfast in the hotel. Didnt realize how much it costed until after we finished eating. Wont do that again!
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Try eating at the Hawker Markets. They have the most local food, and are pretty cheap. I was very pleased with the quality of our food, even though the stands look like something youd find at a carnival or fair. You can find the grade that the stand got for their cleanliness and such inside the window. I believe they are required to post it where customers can see it.

Singapore Stop-over
We stayed at the Carlton in Dec 2008 and really enjoyed it. The staff were very helpful and our room was fantastic with great views towards the Marina. The location was also great, near the MRT, malls and a supermarket. Plus our son loved the pool, it was wonderful to be able to cool off after a hard days shopping and sight seeing!!! We would definitely stay there again.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Definitely get out and see some of the interesting areas like Chinatown, Little India and Arab Street. Really gives Singapore a great perspective, plus the food is brilliant!
