Quiet Location

Lodge was in the mountain village not in Telluride itself. Great transportation via the gondola over to the city, but don’t take it if you’re afraid of heights! Sleeping room itself was small but the bathroom was huge! I was disappointed that with all the empty rooms they couldn’t have put us in a unit with a better view. This one was located on the back of the lodge under the stairs!

Traveler's tip on dining

Don’t waste your money on the highly rated Rustico Ristorante in Telluride. Wines and food was overpriced, prices were skimpy and food was mostly flavorless or oversalted. The stone oven pizzas looked good - wish I would have tried that instead.

Wonderful Get Away

The Bear Creek Lodge is a very nice property. It is one of the only Telluride properties we found that did not charge a resort fee and had free on-site parking. Our room was clean and very comfortable, but was a lock-off to a larger suite and was a little small. The staff at the Lodge was friendly and helpful. The Lodge has a nice fitness center and pool/spa area. There was some construction by the pool. The only surprise was the Lodge is located further from the Village Gondola than we expected. However the Bear Creek shuttle service was very responsive.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

There is free coffee & tea in the lobby every morning. The Village Market is a great place to buy food & provisions. There is a private "people mover" at the Lodge that takes you to the ski run. It would be great in winter, but really did not help much in summer. Plan to walk a lot or use the shuttle. Check out Emilio’s for great Mexican food & margaritas and Brown Dog Pizza for a fun atmosphere and reasonably priced quality pub fare.

Great time!

Our trip was a short honeymoon for my husband and I. Everything was awesome! We went the week of Aug 10th so the area is a little cheaper due to off season so that was helpfull since it’s pretty pricey other times. The room was just as I was expecting, except the bathroom was better than expected. I didnt realize when I book this stay that it is a condo building. But no problems with that though. The staff were extra helpfull. The guy working the front desk in the daytime had great customer service. He made us feel like important guests. The only minor complaint is that we arrived after the 11pm closure of the front desk and had a hard time getting to our room. We were on the back side of the building and were not given directions to get to the door. ( and there was no lighting to see the path on the side of the building. It just looked like bushes.) Although they did leave us what we needed to get in and settled. I will recomend the Bear Creek Lodge to anyone I know going to Telluride/Mtn Village.

Traveler's tip on dining

Tons of restaurants in Mtn Village and in Telluride. The New Sheraton in Telluride is awesome. Great staff and wonderful food!! Floradora had an awesome steak and crab leg meal also. Other places are good too this was where we went for a nice breakfast (Sheraton) and just by chance nice dinner. (Floradora)Too many places to mention them all. You will just find out for your self! Make sure you go to the end of town to see the house built above the waterfall. Very cool!

Not impressed

The condo/hotel complex feels isolated and dated. The units do not take advantage of any views they may have. Their balconies are so small all you can do is stand on them. The pool and hot tubs are close to the woods and attract many mosquitoes and flies. One hot tub was so hot you could hardly put your feet into the water. The tables and chairs at the pool were dirty and our coffee pot had not been cleaned. We would not stay here again.

Very Convenient

Location was great, on top of the mountain. Transportation to and from downtown Telluride is unbelievably convenient--very green! We stayed in the hotel room, not the suite, so it was smaller, but not unbearable. We spent most of our time out and about, so the room size was perfect for our two-night stay. The bathroom was gorgeous, granite everywhere, separate shower and bath, two sinks. The supermarket is a 5 minute walk through the forest, and the hotel provides a grill and patio to grill up the steaks. The staff was amazing, providing everything we needed (utensils, drinks, etc.) for our cook-out. In case of inclement weather the hotel staff was ready and willing to transport you to the free gondola.

Bear Creek Lodge

The hotel had our check in ready when we arrived and gave us lots of information on the area. The gondola station to ride into Telluride was just down the hill and very convenient. The room was immaculate and offered lots of space and amenities. We loved the shower and the tub! Garage parking was nice as we were on our motorcycles and we were able to keep them out of the weather and secure. It was a great experience!

ski vacation

Clean and comfortable hotel with shuttle service to the gondola. No much of a view if you room is at the first floor, however all my expectations were met. Definitely I would recommend it.

Great Hotel, Best Hotel Mattress Ever

This hotel had the most comfortable mattress, very nice amenities, very large bathroom with juetted tub. I would stay here again but only in a unit that is not joined to another. We had a studio unit and could here our joined neighbors talking all night from our bed. There are large gaps in the doors that join the two units together so sounds and smells come right through. It is not ski in ski out but they do have a minature tram that you can walk to, to take to the slops but to get back you have to be on the east side of the mountian to get to it to take it back to the hotel.

Great place in a beautiful area

I was very impressed with this hotel. While the room was not huge, they made good use of the space. The toiletries were Aveda and they had two robes in the closet. The bed was comfortable and the tub was jetted. The shower was rather large. They even had their own automated ’tram’ that took you to the center of town! The front desk staff was very nice and helped me find my way around town as this was my first time to the area.

Note the check in time

Please note that check in time for BCL is 4 pm. We arrived at 3 thinking that would be fine, but it was problematic. If you are planning on attending any event in the town of Telluride (requiring a 20 minute gondola ride from Mtn. Village) prior to 4 pm, we suggest you go straight to the event and check in afterwards. Hotel was not willing to accommodate our need to unpack our belongings, freshen up/change, etc.

Wonderful except one very important feature

This is a very nice hotel and we were very satisfied with one important exception. Our room was to have one king sized bed. We actually had to single beds that they shoved together and tried to make up as one bed. As a result there was a large gap right in the middle of the bed and the mattresses were, overall, very uncomfortable. The bed is a rather important feature for a hotel and given their otherwise very impressive facility, we were genuinely disppointed.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Request a bed that is not 2 beds shoved together

Not impressed

The hotel/main lodge is very nice. We stayed in a hotel room rather than one of the "luxury" residences. The room was nice, but lacked many of the typically hotel luxeries. For example, maid services were provided for the bathroom only and only once. We ran out of towels, shampoo, etc. The bed was never made and trash wasn’t taken out. Additionally, the room didn’t have drinking glasses, coffee pot, ironing board or iron. We also couldn’t find the standard book outlining hotel amenities, phone numbers, things to do etc. The microspcopic TV looked ridiculous in it’s enourmous cabinet. The room did not have AC although we found a fan in the closet on the 2nd night. We will not return to this hotel and wouldn’t recommend it to our friends.

The room was spacious and comfortable with great views and convenience to Mountain side attractions, gondola and town. Ideal for 2 couples sharing.

You won’t be disappointed..

The Lodge is a beautiful place to stay with easy access to the gondola, grocery and roads. If you don’t have a car, you will have a hefty jaunt downhill to the gondola though. I recommend to upgrade to a deluxe 1 bedroom condo which served 2 of us well and the extra amenities were well worth it. If staying, request to stay on the 3rd floor to the south side-- you will have spectacular views. The lower floors are blocked by pines. Great gym and nice common hot pool outside. Shuttle very timely or you can take the funicular to the slopes. We were very happy to have this as our honeymoon accomodations. FYI, no elevators to hull luggage, all outdoor room access.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

After being in Telluride 4 times, I recommend getting a rental if you staying in Mountain Village and are not in walking distance to things. You will not get frustrated with others schedules (shuttle) and it is much easier to get to the gondola parking garage on your own. Park and take the gondola to Telluride for a movie and dinner. Also consider taking a day trip to Ouray and sit in the hot springs. It’s a beautiful drive and worth the time away from the slopes. About 1 hour away.
