This hotel looked nice in the photos, but when we arrived there. Those rooms were not ours, We were stacked up in a old hotel style building behind the semi-decent cabins. We had no veiw except for the cabins in front of us blocking the entire lake. Our screen door fell off when we opened it. The balconies are one whole long balcony outside everyones sliding door. Which left no privacy. If you opened your slider people can walk right by looking in your room so we had to keep the curtains closed. They fireplaces in the rooms do not turn on I guess they are there for looks . If you like ice in your soda bring some they do not have ice machinces. Good luck parking there is like a Half a spot per car we had to wait for another customer to leave to get there spot which made us feel uncomfortable. We paid double for four of us two adults and two kids. Down by the village you can get a real cabin w/ a jacuzzi inside for half this time of year. I wish someone had told me that.

I will return again

Well we got there at night and it was difficult to find so we called the hotel to ask for directions. The manager on site was polite enough to pick us up at the corner of the Village Entrance to guide us to the hotel. Never had I known any employee of any place to go out of their way to assist us in this manner. The rooms were booked and only a room with a balcony and a spa were available and because of our trouble trying to locate the hotel and rooms being booked that they gave us the spa room with a balcony for the price or a regular room. Thank You so much for your hospitality. I will return again. You have an awesome manager, who cares for his customers.

Lakefront

I enjoyed the location. The lake is a few feet from the room we were in. The room has a large balcony with chairs, so you can sit and enjoy the lakeview. There’s a steakhouse about 1 block away & the village is about 3-4 blocks away. The room itself is kind of average. It is comfortable and has a mini fridge and a portable fan (which I really liked). But I mostly like this hotel for its location. The lady at check-in was real friendly. I’ve stayed here before and will stay again.

Will never stay there again

Everything was dirty. We didn’t take showers because their was a nasty ring around the tub. We walked around in our socks and the bottom of the socks were black. BLAH!

Great Price, Comfort, and Convience

My G/F and I stayed for 2 nights in the middle of the week. We were in town to ski for a few days and this was a great location. Room had two queen beds (only one needed). The room had small kitchen wich had a small 4 burner stove and oven/broiler. The plates, cups and cookware were all provided which was nice. There was a small refridgerator under the counter which worked just fine for our needs but the freezer tended to freeze almost everything in the fridge. For a short stay like ours it did just fine but for a week it would be difficult to store large amounts of food. The room had a TV, small table for dinning (seated 2), and a gas fireplace that turns on with a flick of a light switch...which was nice. With fireplace and wall heater the room stayed quite warm. One thing to note is the sink for the bath room is around the corner from the actual restroom. This has some ups and downs obviously. Not too much of a problem though. The view from this room was not very good but other rooms would have a great view of the lake. The room had a modest but nice country cabin feel. If you are used to staying at the Ritz then this probably isn’t the place for you. But if you need a reasonable room for a few days it works perfect and worked great for us. I will definately be using it again in the future.

No value for money

Took a room with kitchenette, they do not have clear lake views. Fireplace was not working, room was old, pots and pans were dirty and the room was very noisy with the plumbing and people walking around making a lot of noise, so didn’t get much sleep. Overall you can get better deals for the money you pay for this one.

Housekeeping needs help

Was not sure what to expect given the other reviews but took a chance anyway, I wish I wouldn’t have!!! I reserved the room for 5 of us, myself, husband and 3 children. When we got there everything seemed ok, no complaints. The next day after we got back to our room following a full day of basketball games the kids went to shower the only problem was they left one bath towel. I went to the office to ask for more and she said we could go look in the laundry room, after looking she said she had no more towels and offered me bedsheets to use. I said that would not work so she offered me 2 washcloths, I told her there were 5 of us in the room, so she gave me 6-8 washcloths to use and said she was sorry. I was sorry, it was the worst stay ever. The beds were not made and the coffee pots was not cleaned out. I am not sure what the housekeeping does but it doesn’t do what it is supposed to. A hotel/lodge should have more than enough towels for all of its guests at any given time.

Older than it looked...

Our family only had to stay here one night. The room was older than it looked in the photos. Our kids were excited by the advertised fireplace in the room, but it ended up being in an awkward corner of the room by the mini fridge/kitchen, so wasn’t much enjoyment going on unless they sat on the ledge in front of the fireplace. It did help dry out their wet snow clothes though. Also, they advertise wireless internet, but we were told that someone had messed it up and they were trying to get it back online. We didn’t get the impression that it would be anytime soon though...

not impressed at all

Bed comforters were filthy and with what looked dry drool all over. Faucet was dripping all night long and driving everyone crazy. heater was the old kind with no thermostat- by 2:00 AM we were suffocating and had to shut it down, by 4:00 we were freezing.

Perfect location with great view

The location and view of the hotel is great. I really enjoyed the view from our room: the lake and mountains and forest. We spend lots of time in the balcony and we ate our lunch in the picnic tables in front of the lake. Not much grass though. So we went to the park nearby. The room in itself was not that great: The decoration in the room was discordant and old fashioned. There was not much room. But it was a great weekend escape.

Very nice for the money

This was our second stay at the Lakefront Lodge and we got the lake front room both times. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable and what a beautiful view of the lake, such a deal for the money. The village is just a short walk away and a nice way to take in the day. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Traveler's tip on dining

Boo Bear’s Den is a very comfortable and reasonable place to eat with very good food. They have a patio area that is very relaxing for any meal or to just spend some time over a cup of coffee or cocktail.

Love the Stay

l had no problem great stay. I was worryed about the stay due to the neg comments by other guest but l got a really good deal on it. So l book it was not disappionted. They need bigger tv is all and you will never get cold with the fireplace or heater. Free movie also at the office vhs but better then nothing. Walking distance to Quinzo also which l loved.

Not impressed

Pictures from brochures looks impressive, and the room seemed so nice. it wasn’t like that at all. The room are small, balcony are not maintained - can’t even use the balcony. There was some type of vomit remain on the balcony - gross.

Not impressed

Hotel associates were not friendly at all. Pots and Pans were old. Not enough cooking utensils. They expect you to cook from a really small pot. Before we got there, we called for directions and no one could help us. Spoke to another perosn that checked in at the same hotel and they said they were not satisfied and would never come back.

Pretty good

I had a "Balcony Lakeview" room when I stayed at the Lakefront Lodge. The room itself was pretty small, just enough room for the beds and a little table and a small kitchenette area. But the view was great, and it is only minutes from Summit. Worth what you pay, and prefect for someone who is in Big Bear to go out and just using the room for sleeping.

Good Value For a Two Star

We don’t normally book into less than a three star hotel, but we were late booking and money was short and so we decided to give it a go. We were given a free upgrade when we arrived to a room overlooking the lake and the view was fantastic. The room was very snug with both an open gas fire and an efficient heater. Now we get to the two star part. At the price we were paying, we couldn’t expect much service and we didn’t get it. The maid eventually looked in at 5pm on the first day and said ’is there anything you want?’ did the bare minimum of changing towels and topping up supplies and was on her way. On the second day, she left us a mess from emptying the bins. We had a microwave, some random crockery and cutlery and a coffee maker. On request, the manager found us some cereal bowls. Washing up is guest responsibility and our predecessors had done a lousy job leaving many things dirty. The guest car park was covered in sheet ice - Four wheel drives managed ok but I saw several other cars having problems. The manager’s space had been beautifully cleared. As a two star hotel, it met our expectations. The price we paid was very reasonable for ski season accomodation and economies were to be expected. In the same situation, we would consider using it again.

Not happy with accommodations

The hotel smelled a bit and our room was not as clean as one would hope. There were spiderwebs and someone forgot to clean out the fridge so there was some really stinky leftovers in there. There was little water pressure and only cold water for us to shower in?! When we tried to talk to the hotel clerk in the morning when we checked out...even though the sign said that the manager was available at 9:00 there was no one there at 9:30. We will never go to this hotel again nor do we recommend it to anyone else. We definitely didn’t feel like we got what we paid for.

and we got one that smelled a bit. There was no phone in the room and obviously no internet. The remote was not with the TV and the hotel service brought it in after 3 hrs.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

This is an expensive place but right by the lake so that is one attraction. Get a room facing the lake!

Great hotel for the price

This hotel was very comfortable to stay in and the people that run the hotel were super friendly. The only problem was that our room was right next to the stairs and we could hear everyone walking up and down.

We will come back

We enjoyed our stay at the resort. Having a refrigerator and microwave was convenient and allowed us to make simple meals in our room. The best part of the resort for me was the beautiful lake view and the peacefulness. My husband and I enjoyed getting up early with coffee in hand and watching the sunrise from our balcony.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The resort is very close to Big Bear Village where there are a lot of fun shops and wonderful restaurants.

It was alright

Hotel staff was really good & very accomadating. It was alittle older looking than what we were use to. For the price I would go back, good place to just relax, but the only thing that I did not like was the really thin walls, I could hear every foot steps & noise from upstairs and we had a room next to the stairs so we could hear them running up & down the stairs. Alittle fustrating when your trying to sleep.

Big Bear Lakefront Lodge

My husband and I stayed one night at Big Bear Lakefront Lodge. It is a small and simple hotel that is two stories and has a view from the backside of the lake. The room is average and comfortable but nothing stunning, just a decent place. One thing to note the management office is only open from 8am - 8pm, so if you are getting late or arriving early you need to work out the details ahead of time. They don’t tell you that when you book the room.

There is a refrigerator, coffee, and microwave. So you can have a meal in your room to save a little money.

Good place to stay for the price.

It is what I expected. It’s a good place to stay in Big Bear. If your looking to be pampered and serviced, then this is not the place. If you like the outdoors and need a place to crash after a long day of fun, then the Lakefront Lodge just fine.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Alpine Mountain for snow tubing is within walking distance. They have great snow making capabilities. Great for kids!
