Good hotel for the price.
Clean, clean bathroom and lots of hot water. There were 4 women and we were quite comfortable, courteous and helpful staff.

Probably wont go back
The rooms were accessed from outside and the curtains had to be shut all the time for people walking by outside could just peek right in. Also there was ground in dirt in the bathroom, on the floor and mopboards.

Bangors Worst
I should have read the reviews before booking this hotel; some called it a "nightmare" and now I know why! The rooms were dirty and cramped, the beds were on the floor. There were absolutely no amenities; the room was a box and little more, and if Im not mistaken, the walls were cinder block. A refrigerator was listed as being in the room, but when we arrived, the desk clerk, who was quite unfriendly, told us that there would be an additional $5 charge if we wanted a fridge in the room! Other family members had 2 and 3 times the space and cleanliness in other Bangor hotels, right down the road, for the same price or even less money [the Howard Johnsons was nice - unfortunately it was booked when we tried to make reservervations]. It is absolutely amazing that this hotel is still in business. One bright note - the maids were courteous and brought us the extra sets of towels we requested -to replace the one set of thin dry ones we found on our arrival.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Steven Kings home is within 5 miles or less of the hotel. Great leaf-peeping, in season. Highly recommend the Sea Dog Restaurant, overlooking the Penobscot River, for lunch, dinner or their fabulous Sunday Brunch. Pretty area and the city of Bangor is small by city standards, with leafy neighborhoods, historic architecture and little industry. Check out the statue of Paul Bunyan and the park near the riverfront.
