Disappointing

Disappointing. Room was missing trash recepatcles in bed and bathroom, ice machines not working on entire floor (tried three), bed short-sheeted at base of bed, and some pillows without cases.

Would deffinately go back

The staff was very friendly and helpful..The grounds were beautiful. added bonus for us was the Adult only swimming pool..so we had the choice of quiet or the more party atmosphere at the family pool..Everything was clean and comfy..

not quite as advertised

not the 4 star you expect. this hotel is not the Westin experience you’re accustomed to. we arrived to a party atmosphere, the noise level was quite noticeable. the hotel is trying to find a niche, but it wasn’t us. think of this hotel as an upgraded 3 star, not a downgraded 5 star and you won’t be too surprised.

Overall great place, some small things missing

The staff friendly and accomodating. It seemed each day after the room was cleaned, something was missing, (ie. didn’t refresh the body wash or didn’t refresh the plastic bag for ice or there weren’t enough wash clothes or hand towels). Otherwise, beautiful property, pool I though would have more. Adult pool like sitting at an olympic pool with chairs around it. Would still go back.

A beautiful and well maintained hotel

This was my second visit to the Westin Kierland and definitely NOT my last. The Hotel is beautiful with top notch services, restaurants and amenities. The Golf course is in fantastic condition and the pool is beautiful. My wife did however find the spa services to be greatly overpriced (by New York City standards) for the level of services they provide. My only criticism is the daily room charge for internet access. This service should be complimentary in a high end facility and even the nominal fee raises an eyebrow. On a very positive note, the evening firepits under the stars are a fantastic treat as is the gentleman who plays the bagpipes nightly as the sun sets. All in all, it is a fantastic resort that needs very little to make it even better

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

the staff at the golf house are top notch pros. make sure to book a lesson. The health club is well appointed. Bring plenty of work out clothing

Great Resort!!

We absolutely loved Westin Kierland Resort. The staff were extra friendly, helpful and accommodating. We really enjoyed the breakfast at the Nellie Cashman’s Monday Club Cafe. Great place to stay with kids.

Traveler's tip on dining

We would recommend dinning at Sapporo’s located very close to the resort and visiting Sedona which is approximately 2 hours away.

A nice getaway

We selected the hotel as we were familiar with the general area. It was a weekend stop on our way to CA from the East coast. Hotel grounds were fantastic and well maintained. Restaurants were above average and spa and athletic center were too. Concierge staff were the only disappointment. They were not too enthusiastic about helping my wife and I. They did help us appeared to be wanting to do something else.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

There are plenty of hiking areas nearby with varying levels of difficulty. We loved them.

Best bed in the dessert...

I was sent by my company to attend a seminar in Scottsdale, but since my husband can take off, I brought along my daughter and him to this trip. We would say that this hotel is on of the best hotels that we ever stayed on. There’s a certain feel in this hotel, that’s very relaxing. The bed heavenly. The room and bathroom very well-spacious, a lot of space for my 2 yr-old daughter to run around. Employees very helpful and friendly. My observation only in this town is that, there’s not much diversity(ethnic race). Some people can see it as a good thing or some may not...

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Nice hotel bad food

The hotel, pool and service were wonderful, however, the food at this hotel was horrible. I would never stay there again just because of the food alone. What is the point of staying at a hotel if you have to leave the property to get food.

Traveler's tip on dining

The food at this hotel is not up to par at all.

All around comfort!

This hotel is the most comfortable I’ve ever been to. The staff was helpful and very service-oriented. We ate at three different restaurants inside and the food was second to none! If I’m ever in the area again, I will most definitely stay here - and next time I’ll bring the kids!

Traveler's tip on dining

The food was top-notch. Don’t be afraid to pay a little more, the food & service is well worth it!

Met Expectations - Great Golf Get-Away

We just braved the heat and stayed 8 days in eary June in Scottsdale. Kierland is a very nice 4 star resort hotel in the middle of a modern suburban city. You have to try very hard to notice the difference between this 4 star and a 5 star resort (staying at a 5 star really spoils you for all other hotels). The pros: All staff members were very friendly and helpful each time we asked for help. We were comfortable using the concierge who always helped with our requests and provided driving directions to outside restaurants. The room was very good though we had an 8th floor room that didn’t look out over the golf-course. I was worried that it would be noisy as others described - but we didn’t hear a peep from any other folks for the 8 days we visited. The bed was wonderful and the bathroom adequate. The hotel is near a ton of restaurants, a shopping mall, and many golf courses. They are spread out all over the place. Cons: no dvd or VCR, no free internet access ($12 a day seems expensive to me), maid didn’t refill our soap and other bathroom supplies when they were out - nit-picky. I’m sure I’ll be back when other deals come around - June was a good time to visit if you don’t mind getting up early to golf and you enjoy sitting around the pool all day or staying indoors.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Golf at the resort to warm-up as they are easy 9s, but take advantage of the many great courses in the area. My favorites were We-Ko-Pa Saguaro and Troon North Monument. I carried my clubs over to the practice area at Kierland which is very good. The range is not air-conditioned, but is covered. Free apples in the work-out center! If you are from anywhere outside the southwest you must go to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. They take your breath away.

The best in the Arizona desert

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be treated like a king/queen! The staff is very attentive, service was impecable, and grounds/room were fantastic. The beds are beyond comfortable, the bathroom has a shower separate from the bath tub with a double shower head. We had a view from the 7th floor of the golf course which is breath taking at sunset. The spa is wonderful...a little pricey, but well worth it! The best part was they have an Adult pool area! You are away from the annoying kiddies who have their own very large and entertaining pool area. They have activities for the kids throughout the day which kept them away from adult land! They have a waiter that takes drink & food orders. And also pool attendants that bring pitchers of ice water for you for free. They also come around to be sure the pitchers stay empty and adjust the umbrellas for shade if needed. We went on June 4-7, 2008...it was 101 degrees and the rate was a lot cheaper due to it being their off season. I’m from the northwest where we don’t get 101 degree heat, but I could take the heat with all of the service and attention. I will definitely be back and soon!!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Rent a car and drive 2 hours to Sedona. The Hertz rent-a-car desk is in the hotel!! Sedona has beautiful red-rock mountains and lots of outlet malls, quaint shops, and tourist attractions.

Just Wonderful - Loved It!

It’s a five-star hotel and that’s exactly how they treat you. From the moment we arrived till we checked out, it was a great experience. The entire hotel staff is extremely friendly. From bellhops taking you around the grounds on golf carts to the wait staff at the pool, to the maintenance crew -- super friendly! I was there on business and pleasure and this hotel is perfect for both.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

There is a 900 foot lazy river at the hotel - this was a great way to sun and relax.

Beautiful grounds and friendly staff

My husband and I were so impressed with the Westin Kierland Resort. The three pools were amazing and we had superb service while lounging poolside. My husband enjoyed his round of golf. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back!

Traveler's tip on dining

Morton’s steakhouse was located in the Kierland Commons shopping center, which was walking distance from the hotel. Fabulous dinner...
