Great Place!!!!

We have always stayed at Cap Caribes and have never had a bad experiance. The staff is always helpful and friendly, even if they can’t always get you exactly what you want.Perfect access to all the beach activities.Just got back last week, slow season,so alot of our favorite resturants were closed for the season but beach eateries were wonderful, just hadto eat early. Hope to be back again soo. My favorite place!!!!

Traveler's tip

It was slow season so most resturants are closed.Had late lunches on the beach with really great food and bought wonderfjul breads and cheeses and quiches at the local market by the hotel for supper. Spent all our days on Orient beach or at Pinnel and enjoyed the quiet, visiting with the local people and the beautiful beach.

Would consider going back

Convient to the beach. Desk staff was helpful & friendly. The room lacked daily replenishment of supplies. Close to restaurants which are expensive.

Great location, weak on service and cleanliness

The hotel is in a great location, just steps from the beach, which is reason enough to stay. I found the staff to be friendly, but not really helpful in answering questions or solving issues. The hotel water was luke warm. The water was turned off several times (not the hotel’s fault) but their reaction was poor. Most annoying was the cleanliness of the room itself. In addition to food and dirt stains, there were smashed mosquitos on the walls and in the bathroom. The walls could use a serious washing. The freezer door in the small refrigerator kept falling off.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There are two great spots for beach cocktails! The Sunset Beach Bar at the end of the airport runway is a must. There is also a great little bar on Orient Beach called Brice Paradise that makes a killer mudslide served with no attitude!

So convenient....

Great hotel. Right on the beach. Literally a 100 yards to Orient Beach. Staff was friendly. Maid service was impeccable - really. They even washed our dishes!! The hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the small town center (grocery store, 6 restaurants - all good!, beauty shop, health aid store....). The only negative thing I would have to say would be the beds. For us, they were too firm. But we made do and took all of the cushions from the loveseat and chair and stuffed them under the mattress pad, re-made the bed and slept quite soundly all week.

Just right for me.

I wanted a place that was clean, convenient, and safe, and this place got high grades in these areas. The room was simple but roomy, and the daily maid service was good. It was about 50 yards from the beach with no roads or obstacles in the way. I’d read about some travelers having troubles with thefts at their hotels, but Cap Caribe was very secure : safe in room, sturdy door, double lock on patio sliding door, and a security guard walking the property at night. I knew that it wasn’t a big resort with an elaborate restaurant or bar, but I was pleasantly surprised to find pretty good restaurants and stores a five minute walk away. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my stay.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

I rented a car to explore the area & visit Marigot & Philipsburg. Driving the island is easy. Both towns are about 20 minutes away, but Philipsburg was very congested & it was impossible to park. Better to take a cab if you’re going there ($15 each way) Marigot was much more convenient with adequate free parking.

Just what we expected, would go back again

Spent a week at the Cap Cariabes in early May. Very happy with the accommodations - large clean room with well equipped kitchenette. Convenience of the beach and village restaurants/shops was perfect. Beach was beautiful - great for long walks and swimming, as well as many kinds of water sports if you want. Snorkeling here was not great, however. Hope to go back again soon.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t forget any electrical adapters you may need as the hotel only has a few to lend out.

Perfect for Orient Beach

Nice, clean hotel with condo type rooms. Small kitchen with cofee maker, toaster, etc. Daily maid service. Everything was clean and in good working order. This is not a luxury resort but it is comfortable and clean. Best of all it’s only a few shorts steps to the sand of Orient Beach.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

The little massage hut at Waikiki Beach is great. Nothing feels better than a massage when you can hear the waves crashing and feel the cool ocean breezes!

Great location

Decent beds with plenty of pillows. Nice staff. Stop at a supermarket on your way and stock up on supplies and utilize their mini kitchens (micro, toaster, coffee maker, 2 burner stove and mini fridge, untensils/plates etc for 4). Hotel has deal with beach establishment for use of beach chairs with thick padding. Great location, easily go from beach to room for beverage, bathroom, snacks. Short drive to Grand Case for dinner.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Eat at the local open air places in Grand Case, pay via cash.

Fantastic Hotel

This was a wonderful experience. We loved the location of the hotel. The staff were friendly, the room was always clean, the atmosphere and location to the beach was exceptional. We will return to this hotel only!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

There is plenty to do on Orient Beach. You won’t need to go anywhere else to do the fun beach activities.

Great Location

We were very satisfied with Cap Caraibes. Room was comfortable and well maintained. Beach was excellent and several restaurants are within walking distance which was a huge plus on those nights when you just don’t feel like dealing with the drive to the Dutch side. Prices at the supermarket on the Dutch side were better but everything was very pricey due to the state of the dollar.

Enjoyed our stay!

Easy acccess to a beautiful beach. Comfortable room in nicest part of the island. Fixing a few roofs in the service area would improve the view from the balcony. Very friendly desk staff.Glad we didn’t stay on the Dutch side where the overdevelopment is rampant. Wish the hotel could give out more info on events and music in the area and would stock a US paper. A list of who has music on what night would be great. TV only got one station sporadically if the satellite was in a good mood! Overall though, a lovely restful stay!

Traveler's tip on dining

We ate at Rancho del Sol on our last night. Located on a hill right outside the complex, the food was great with a beautiful view. The restaurant sign also has a listing for a lumber company which made us a little dubious, but it turned out to be our best meal of the trip.

Perfect beach vacation

There is no need to leave the complex. There are 8 excellent restaraunts and its own little village in walking distance of the hotel. Beautiful beach, free lounge chairs and umbrellas. It was very hard to find, the signs on the island in general are not good but once you do find it you wont want to leave.

Can’t beat the location

It’s true that it’s not a luxury property but the location is fantastic. It’s clean and well-run. The girls at the front desk are great. It’s close to many great bars & restaurants on the beach.

Can’t wait to go back

This was my second stay at this hotel. They did everything possible to make my stay comfortable. The room is beautiful and everything is conveniently close by. For me its the only place to stay in St. Maarten. Will stay there again next year.

The restaurants in the little square within walking distance are open and children seemed to have a good time playing while Mom & Dad were eating.

Outstanding small hotel on the beach!

My wife and I just spent 5 days at Cap Caraibes. It was exactly what we were looking for - small, unpretentious, clean, large rooms, friendly staff. The beach is a 2 minute walk. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are free to guests, and beach towels are provided. There is a beach bar and restaurant right at the beach. The village is a 5 minute walk with restaurants and a market, where you can get fresh croissants, baguettes, wine, cheese, etc. The restaurants in the village were hit or miss. Our favorite was Le Piment Pizzeria! The pizzas and salads were exceptional, the prices reasonable, and the waitress very friendly! We rented a car, but rarely used it. We had stopped in Marigot at the Match Supermarket, where we picked up some drinks and snacks. Our room came with a small kitchen, including refrigerator, so we were able to save alot of money doing this. WARNING: drinks at the beach bar are VERY expensive! ($10 for a Bloody Mary!) We opted for a room on the ground floor to save a bit of money, so we had a view of the pool, but not the beach. The upper floor rooms have views of the beach, but cost more. To be sure, the Cap Caraibes isn’t for everyone. There is no room service - it’s not a luxury resort. You won’t be pampered - you’ll be comfortable. Nightlife is pretty much non-existant in the village, but Grand Case is close by. True, the TV is in French except for 2 channels. But, come on, it is a French island! And who wants to watch TV when you’re in paradise!

Traveler's tip on dining

Venture out to Oyster Pond, and have dinner and drinks on the marina at the Dinghy Dock for a fraction of the cost of Orient Bay restaurants. The menu is on a chalkboard, happy hour is "pour your own", and the food is delicious! I had Fish and Chips which rivalled any I had in the UK for $12. Very good food, fun atmosphere, and great prices.

Meets Expectations-

Very good value for the Expedia rate. Comfortable rooms with quite a bit of space. Hotel service, especially during check-in (which amounted to an orientation) was above expectations. Less than 30 second walk to the beach & bar. The only downfall to the area is the lack of atm/cash machine, even in Orient Village. Literally had to drive 20 minutes for extra money.

A lot of Luxury for the price

We loved the hotel and can’t wait to go back. You have everything close by, restaurants, grocery, beach, bar etc. I give it a A+ the people at the hotel were helpful including the security guard who waited for us to arrive with our keys since our flight was late and we didn’t get there till 10:00 pm. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel and will stay there anytime I’m in St. Martin.

Not Impressed

It wasn.t good from the start. we requested a ocean level suite because my wife just had total hip replacement and when we got there we where told that they do not have any ocean level suites at all. so we had to settel for a 2nd floor suite that over looked a garden. it wasnt a pleasure for my wife trying to climb two sets of stairs. we also had no hot water for two days when we told the front desk about it after the first day they said to let the water run and it will get hot and they would have some one look at it. the second day with no hot water the girl from the desk cam and look at it. The water heater was on a timer and she did not no anything about it. See came back and turned of the timer and we had hot water.
