Good value and location

The 1 bedroom accommodation provided very adequate facilities for a self-cater week. Maid, linen service, poolside bar and restaurant were all provided if desired. The beach was clean and free wifi internet available in the lobby.

A 2-day rental car is useful to get to attractive destinations like Playa del Carmen. Daily insurance rates make longer use of a rental car almost prohibitive. A day trip to Isla Mujeres is great for the restaurants on the beach, fishermen who will sell you fish still flapping in the boat, beaches populated with natives rather than tourists, and a friendly town that can easily be walked in an hour.

Great Hotel with Fantastic Beach

We stayed at this Cancun hotel for 3 nights. The room was big and spacious. We got the one bedroom suite and had a living room with couch, dinning table, and full kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. The room was peaceful and relaxing. Also very clean, modern and well maintained. Staff was friendly and helpful. The beach is amazing, the waters are very calm and crystal clear. Perfect for swimming and playing in the water. The food at beach club restaurant is good. The morning breakfast was very good as well. The hotel is close to the main hotel zone restaurants, bars, shopping, and night life. You can walk to these points in about 15 min or take the very frequent Route 1 (R-1) bus for the 5 min ride. The bus costs 7.50 pesos per person and will also take you into Cancun Centro (downtown). The bus stop is right in front of the hotel. You will not need a taxi to get around from the hotel, the taxis in Cancun can get pricy and pushy. We enjoyed our stay very much and will return here again when staying in Cancun. We also highly recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

too good to share

Ambiance Villas was a great choice. We were impressed by the previous reviews and the hotel delivered! It was small, intimate, and the staff was friendly and courteous at all times. True, some of the help doesn’t speak much english, but for the most part, the ones you have the most contact with on a day to day basis are fluent and very helpful. If you’re looking for glitz, partying, and the "in crowd", look elsewhere. This is a kick-back, low-stress, operation with open-air restaurants, huge pool, and great beach. We spent and week and we will return.

Purchase the Best Day travel service for your transportation to and from the airport. Bring small denominations of pesos for tips and small purchases. Remember you will have to pass through customs at your first stop back into the states, allow time if you have to change planes to reach your final destination.

Best service for the price (Thats not a bad thing either)

Our place was simply amazing. It may not have been a mega resort, but it just as good. I have read some bad review, and honestely i dont get it. The best beach in cancun, service was great, and our room was the best. If i ever go back i would stay here.

Awesome Hotel!! Wish I was still there!

This hotel was great! The staff spoke pretty good english & was very helpful with anything we needed. The beach was the best in Cancun! By far the largest stretch of beach with no rocks or anything like the majority of the ones we walked on. The sand was like powder, it was soft & dust like & didnt burn your feet during the day. The staff also frequently raked it. Located right next to many water sport rental activities. The water was almost pool like, crystal clear & the best Ive ever seen! The restuarant on the beach is located right behind where we layed out every day so it was very convenient for lunch. Food was also very good. The villas were very cozy & home like & the hotel was only a short taxi ride to the main club area. Overall I was very satisfied & wish I was still there!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

By far the best beach in Cancun so enjoy plenty of time in the sand. Also the best place for shopping for souveniers was the Mexican Outlet, the have prices in dollars and euros. Go to Azucar, its the best latin club in Cancun. Enjoy Cancun!

simply wonderful!

Ambiance Villas has the best combination of small quiet hotel, beautiful beaches, good service and close proximity to all the fun in Cancun. I’m sure we will stay here again as soon as we can get back!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

get some pesos. they will take US dollars just about everywhere, but the exchange rates on most transactions are rouded in their favor. and doing exchange rates in your head while drinking tequila, not a good idea :-) riding the bus can save you $20 -$40 a day or more getting around the island.

Great Service

Ambiance was a very cheap but extremely enjoyable resort. Rooms were clean and the gorunds were well maintained. The beach was by far the best in Cancun.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Use the bus. It cost only 7.5 pesos and it will take you anywhere you need to go. Ask front desk for which bus to take

Perfect

Everyone was very friendly and accomodating. Location was great. Beach was superb. Price was right. I vacationed with my 3 children, ages 9-13, and they had the best time. There was plenty of open space for them to be free and not disturb other guests. We can’t wait to go back!

Great place to stay!!

It is a perfect family hotel! It is quiet at nights, tranquil ambient, beatiful beach, great location, and the service room is nice. Inside the hotel there are not many activities to do, the food is not that good and is not a fancy place, but it worked for us since we save a few bucks and we tour a lot.

Nice Hotel - Calm Waters and the Best Beach in Cancun

We stayed here in Aug. 2009 mostly because we read the reviews of the beach--and they were true! Calm, clear, CLEAN water, and a nice wide beach. The hotel was good; grounds were beautiful (not a "tower" type hotel, but smaller buildings). Great staff--friendly and responsive. Felt like a "family" hotel, not a big, impersonal corporate type. Get the deal that includes breakfast because the breakfast buffet is worth it. Most rooms have no view (except of neighboring hotels). Mine was on the ground floor, but it felt secure due to 2 separate locked entry ways you had to access (to hallway and to room). Bed was okay (not too hard); linens were nothing fancy. TV worked fine & had American stations. Bathroom was fairly clean. A few mosquitos, but only on the first day. Bus stops right in front of the hotel, so that’s convenient. Little market up the street about 1/2 block for bottled water, sodas, snacks. All in all, great hotel and we will stay there again--but maybe we won’t go in August again.

Traveler's tip

Take the bus into the city to Market 28--best deals for souveniers (prepare to haggle). Take buses to other side of hotel row for clubs, restaurants. For a great dining experience, cab it to La Habichuela in the city center. Set up tours in advance; once you arrive, everyone will try to get you to book one of theirs. Beware of timeshare salespeople as you exit the airport.

Big Mistake

Be aware this is a "villa" type hotel, meaning no elevator. We had to climb 4 flights of stairs to an unsatisfactory room overlooking the parking lot. Even though we had requested a non smoking room, it smelled of smoke. The beach, of course, was wonderful, but our rooms were unremarkable and disappointing. The buffet breakfast was mediocre.

Traveler's tip on dining

The organic restaurant opposite Senor Frog’s "Super Duna" was fabulous and reasonably priced. Avoid "Casa Rolandi" tacky ambiance and over priced.

Great place

I have been in Riviera Maya before and the Hotel was great but not the beach. This Villas have the most pretty beach you could find. The breakfast was really good and the Restaurant inside the Hotel was good and great prices. We have a Villa with two rooms and was very nice, big beds clean and the kitchen is perfect. We have two big bathrooms with daily shampo, soaps coditioners... and three tv so no fight with the kids, the internet just work in one area but is good, the beach is sooo close and plenty of chairs. The bus services is easy and good way to move around the Cancun area (remember the bus only take pesos no $). Don’t be upset when you see the looby, is super small but you do not need it. We did not want to leave. Enjoy it.

Pleasant Stay

Stayed for a week this past March 2009, with the family. We had a great experience. The people were friendly and the hotel was very clean and safe. It met our expectations. We read that it was family-oriented and it certainly was that. The rooms arent fancy, but clean and comfortable. It feels like you are staying in a big condo or apartment. The breakfast was very good and saved money on our stay. The area is quite around the hotel as is the beach, which was awesome for having two young kids. Great. We would stay here again with the family. The tour salesman at the hotel was also extremely helpful and honest.

Theres a Walmart in the city where you can stock up on groceries. Our room had a full kitchen.

Good Bargain = Best Beach - needs update

We had 2 stays (2 children ages 2 and 5). Staff is quick to respond to your needs. We stayed in a 1 BR Suite w/ a King bed (5201). Outdated kitchen stove (electric), but everything worked. Dissapointed not to get ocean view on first stay. King beds were good enough for the stay. However, crib and sofa bed left much to be disired on both stays. Crib was falling apart, missing a couple of screws and smaller than regular playpens. Sofabed was unconfortable, however with pillows underneath, it wasn’t too bad. Room was quiet and we rested well both nights. Best thing by far: the beach - best in Cancun. We enjoyed it. Pool also really nice with separate section for the little ones; my daughter loved it. The water was always perfect. We got our ocean view on our second (5311), except it had a strong musty humid smell. Overall, good place to stay if traveling with little kids. Roomier than normal hotel. Cleanliness of room... walk araound with socks or sandals. If you wear socks, you’ll see how clean (or not) the floors really are. Hotel grounds are very well kept. Food was OK. Go to La Bodegita del Medio, next to the black market on the opposite side of the clubs. Great prices and great food.

This hotel doesn’t have an elevator so try to stay in the 1st 3 floors if you are traveling with kids. I didn’t mind at all, but my hubby’s legs were sore from going up and down the stairs. Grocery store is to the left of the hotel across the street - very convenient. Internet access is free if you have your own laptop, which is great, if not, you have to buy the cards for 1 peso per minute, which is not bad at all.

Great place to stay!

My wife and I stayed here for 7 nights...it was just our style...very layed back. We got a free room upgrade to a suite which included a kitchenette. Ambiance doesn’t have all the high class sparkle of some other Cancun hotels, but I don’t like the high class hassle. Very nice! It is my hotel for Cancun trips.

This is a great place for families to stay. Their three room suites are awesome! When you book specifically ask for the "5000 block" 3 room suites and for a room looking directly out to the ocean.

Beautiful Beach! But That’s Just It!

My fiancee and I decided to stay at this hotel based on expense and the great reviews that it had here on expedia. We stood there for 2 nights(thank God). The beach is awesome. Swimmable. It is not erroded as in other parts of Cancun. However, the hotel was not impressive. Don’t get me wrong, the personnel was wonderful. They have great customer service. However, the hotel is outdated and its a small hotel amongst the other wonderful monster hotels. We had a great view of the ocean but our basic room was just that. Basic. The blankets were clean but they looked very old. There is no full length mirror. The vanity area which is separated from the restroom was small. I did not see any elevators. Its not a horrible hotel but its not the best. My fiancee and I would not stay here again. Their are other hotels on both sides that have the same wonderful beach and are better lookers.

Traveler's tip

We spent most of this trip at Playa Del Carmen. Stay at the Royal in Playa. It is the best hotel there.

Perfect beautiful beach

The hotel was nice, clean & well staffed. We never had to wait for any requests. The only negative thing about the hotel is that the beds are very firm. Other than that it was great. It is not a "fancy" hotel. But who wants to go all the way to cancun & stay in the hotel anyway. It is only a short walk to the private beach that is very clean, well kept, with security guards that patrol the area to keep solicitors from bothering the guests.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

This hotel is good for the money! then you can spend your money on other fun things like snorkeling, diving, day trips & tours.

We got more than our money’s worth at this hotel. Very clean, right on the beach, and very friendly service. Just don’t expect more than one electrical outlet...
