Pleasant experience but pricey
The hotel is right on Plaza de Armas, best location in town. Yet no room have view, or worse view into backdoor dumps. You may come to Sonesta only for a drink and enjoy the view of the Plaza from its terrace.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The Monasterio de Santa Catalina is an absolute must, and so is a tour of Arequipa surroundings. During that tour have lunch at Tradicion Arequipena, but avoid the guinea pig trap.

Excellent location on main plaza of Arequipa. Friendly staff. Rooms are simple and clean though somewhat dated.
