Not impressed
The room was very clean and nicely decorated. However, the wall hairdryer didnt work. Ordinarily this would have been inconvenient, but I would have managed. However, I had a family wedding to attend and needed to look my best. A repairman was sent up but couldnt fix it as it would be over the weekend. I was invited to come downstairs and use one in the locker room. I did, but it meant going through the hallways with wet hair. A little embarrassing. In addition the internet set up didnt work and they couldnt fix that either. I lost a days work I needed to complete as a result. They sent a basket of crackers and candy, and an apology the day we checked out.

Awesome Idaho Experience
The Selkirk Lodge is part of the ski resort at Sweitzer Mountain above Sandpoint Idaho. Weve stayed there in August three times. There are absolutely beautiful views of the valley and Lake Pend Orielle, forests, and mountains. Hiking trails abound and the forest is lush with wildflowers, ferns and a variety of trees. You can ride the ski lift on weekends or go to Sandpoint any day to play in the lake(about 12 miles). The hotel rooms are large, comfy and nicely appointed and the staff is very helpful. Additionally, there is a very good restaurant for lunch and dinner next door if you dont want to go to town. Also theres a deli across the square and a coffee/pastry shop just off the hotel lobby. Weve loved our stays!
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Sandpoint is a small town with numerous small shops and a wonderful city park on Lake Pend Orielle. Hiking, fishing, and boating are the main attractions. There are guided boat tours on the lake (which is immense)and various festivals which can be checked out on the internet. Also side trips to Couerd Alene or north into Canada for sightseeing are within an hours drive.

Could be better
When we checked in the front desk clerk said that all the restaurants were closed, except on the weekends. Additionally, all the activities were unavailable (bike rental, chair lift rides, etc) until two weeks later. Sandpoint (restaurants) is a 25 minute drive, so having food available on site was important. Turns out that without activities, you go to town anyway. Also, there actually was food available from morning until 5:30 p.m. Bottom line, they were not "open" for summer yet, but nobody felt like mentioning that small fact. Im sure its a wonderful experience during ski and summer seasons proper.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Personally, I wouldnt bother with Sandpoint, except for skiing Schweitzer or boating Pend Oreille.
