Elegant, gracious accommodations
We arrived earlier than expected, but were treated graciously and a suite facing the lake prepared for us within a half hour that we spent absorbing the beauty of the lake, the small privately owned island across from us and our fellow guests relaxing on the lawn. Our suite was spacious, comfortable, well decorated, clean and had a large bathroom and powder room. The veranda is a stunning place for an evening drink. Guests ranged widely in age and nationality, though most of the license plates we saw were from Italy and Germany. Few Americans, which suited us. The staff were consistently helpful and pleasant. The management is to be congratulated on well run property and well trained staff.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Get an excursion pass for the ferry and enjoy all Borromeo islands and the other charming towns along the lake. The ferries stop rather early in the evening, so be awre of schedules. Take the funicular from Carciano for stunning views from the mountaintop. Don’t miss the Villa Taranto gardens just down the hill from Grand Hotel Majestic.
