Convenient New Hotel
This hotel is right across the street from Gare du Nord train station; it could not be more convenient.
Although there are many restaurants along the street in front of the station, we found a grocery store 2.5 blocks east was a good source for picnic food.

If you are looking for luxury, keep looking. If you can get by with spartan accomodations to save money, and want to be close to Metro access, this hotel might work. There is no air conditioning, or screens on the windows, so a summer stay could be hostile. The hosts were bi-lingual and very helpful, but this is not a modern hotel. It offers the basics, at competitive rates.
Traveler's tip
Beware of the "Speak English" helpful people who prowl the Metro Station, offering billets (train tickets) or assistance in buying them from automated ticket machines. They are scam artists, who try to sell tickets at inflated prices, or work a shell game on the machines to get you a cheap ticket at a high price. Stand in line for the ticket booth and avoid a scam.

Good place to stay for a night
Good place to stay for a night due to the location. It is literally across the street from the main train station which is great. If you are planning on staying for a while in Paris, there are much better options for your money.
