Walk to the Guggenheim Museum

Excellent choice for museum visitors
The Miro suited our needs perfectly. It was easy to reach via the airport bus (Just around the corner from the Guggenheim stop). The hotel is stylish and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Best of all, the Guggenheim is one block away and Bilbao’s own fine arts museum is three blocks away in a beautiful park. There is a tram stop close by, but the area where the pinxtos bars are clustered is just a fifteen minute walk. Our room wasn’t huge, but there was a very elegant black marble bathroom with an strong shower. Breakfast was included with our rate and it was excellent- eggs, torta, smoked salmon,ham cheeses and nice baked goods. The hotel has a nice bar, which was welcome one evening when we preferred a quieter, more relaxing venue than the pinxtos bar scene.
Traveler's tip on dining
The fixed price lunch at the Guggenheim bistro was terrific. The 18 euro meal included a little complimentary shot glass of pumpkin bisque, three creative and delicious courses, bread, and wine. It’s a good idea to make a reservation online via their website.

Ho-hum hotel
While this hotel’s location across from the Guggenheim and around the corner from the Museu de Bellas Artes was great, service from the front desk was uneven (helpfulness and cordial attitude depended on who was working) and the room was the size of a broom closet.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
There is a tourist information office next to the Guggenheim and at several other locations in Bilbao where you can pick up a reasonably priced Bilbao card. The Bilbao card grants free admission to some museums + other attractions, discounts and free subway/bus service.
