Excellent Hotel, Close to Tram Station, Free Internet at Reception, Helpful Staff
The hotel has large rooms, good toileteries and is easy to go to using public Tram. Hotel provides internet access with a free walk up station close to reception. The staff is very nice and goes out of the way to assist.

Would choose the same hotel in the future!
The hotel is nicely located south of the DOM and the city center. A local tram is located just 1 minute walking distance which makes it extremely convenient for business travelers to and from the Fair center. Lot’s of reviews discretized the hotel being in a construction area. This is true, but we did not feel any problem; I guess because we were assigned rooms on the other side of the hotel (Noise-wise). Briefly, It is a nice hotel in a nice location.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The area this hotel is located in is so quite, but the 10 minutes watking distance (up north) takes you to the heart of cologne. It is for sure nice especially in the summer to the fall. Not sure about the winter thought! If you like Mercure, and want a better location for the night life, I would suggest the one located in Friesenplatz, Cologne.

Nightmare
Located at a construction site on a non flattering part of Cologne. Room comfort and airconditioning is poor. Reception is at most indifferent. Although it carries Severinshof Koeln name - it is at most a Motel 6. Avoid at any cost
