Hotel Real del Rio is an excellent hotel in a safe area. The staff members are courteous and taxi service is readily available. I especially like the close proximity to the Rio Plaza Mall.

What a jewel
This hotel was absolutely charming. Friendly, relatively well English speaking staff. Boutique style property, dark wood and marble interior, pretty upscale for the price. Secure and very clean rooms. Nice firm beds (no bedbugs, we checked, well with all the recent media about the problem) , marble bathroom, crown molding. We were only there for an overnighter, but during our stay it was great. Good location, excellent taco stand right at the corner of the street. Restaurant and beautiful bar on site. I highly recommend this place and hope to return myself someday.
I would just like to say that with all the negative things I read and heard about Tijuana, we were pleasantly surprised. We went out, at night time, Revolucion Ave. We felt perfectly safe. I think the peddlers, a little dirt, the smell of tequila and cigars, etc. give it character and charm. If you’re free willed, open to different things and cultures, Tijuana is a great place to visit. Just be smart, use your head and common sense and ENJOY!!
