Good hotel in need of maintenance

Hotel looks a bit run down, deferred maintenance. They need to hire a professional carpet cleaner. Other than that its fine especially for the price. Close to inner ring and subway so if you are there as a tourist but also on business not a bad location.

Very good hotel

Located in a convenient area, having a metro station a few steps from its door and plenty of restaurants nearby nobody would need a better location. Breakfast was excelent. Hotel staff very attentious and helpfull. Roomy apartments with good bath room. Nothing to complain.

Good but not worth the money

We liked it but it was very expensive, as most things were in Russia. The lobby was so smoky we couldn’t wait to get through it. The room carpet was pretty shabby, although the room was fine in general. Room service was good and staff were helpful.

Traveler's tip

Subway was most convenient because it was right outside the lobby door. Great location in that regard.

Nice Location - Great Breakfast Buffett

My wife and I stayed at the Novotel Moscow Centre for a couple of nights while visiting Moscow on 9/8/09. We thought the location was great, being right on top of the Metro and close to many restaurants / shops. The breakfast buffett was excellent, with numerous choices and a great coffee / expresso drink machine. The price was very reasonable, considering this is Moscow City Center and most other hotels were at least $100 more expensive. The only downside was that one of the main lights blew out on the second night and was not fixed during our stay. I would however highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Moscow.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

This hotel is very reasonably priced, in a central location on top of a Metro station and your stay includes a great breakfast buffett.

Decent Place

Recently stayed here for 6 days/nights. It’s a nice enough hotel...comparable to a Super 8 or Amerisuites here in the USA. The rooms are pretty basic and the bathroom is small, but for Moscow this is 4-5 stars. Ask for a higher flooor and you’ll enjoy a nice view of the city (as well as avoid the street noise!). As mentioned in previous reviews the breakfast is very good....lots of choices and food quality was good. We ate a huge late breakfast each morning which held us to dinner. This hotel is also situated in a good spot....with many cafes, restaurants and bars nearby (even a McDonalds). Mocha-lotta was our favorite place. Situated on top of a Metro station is also a huge plus. If you figure out what you are doing, you can get anywhere in the city for a couple bucks (vs. $40-$50 for the same ride in a cab).

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Use the Metro! It’s busy and confusing at first, but SO much cheaper and, once you figure out the system, you can get most anywhere in the city!! My two taxi rides in Moscow have been near death experiences! Taxis are very expensive and you take your life into your own hands. Trust me! Google "traffic fatalities in Moscow"....and you’ll decide to ride the Metro.

Pleasant Staff

I really enjoyed staying here. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and they all were able to speak English very well. They helped me figure out the best route to get to where I needed to go (use the metro in Moscow its easy, fast, and cheap). The breakfast was nice as well. The only thing I did not like about this hotel is that it is expensive to use the slow internet for 20 minutes... but then again your in Moscow, get off the computer and go walk around.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is a supermarket 2 blocks away, its a good place to buy a snack and water at a fair price. Also they don’t have the brands Advil or Tylenol in Moscow (at least not at any of the Apteka’s I went to; make sure you pack some in your bag)

Best kept secret in Moscow

I stayed at the Novotel for 3 nights in July 2009. I was really surprised to find such high standards in Moscow in general and in a such affordable hotel in particular. The room was very modern, the beds very comfortable, the bathroom impeccable, everything worked perfectly, breakfast was excellent, etc. It’s a little bit far from the main attractions but with the legendary and super-efficient Moscow metro right underneath the hotel, you’re never far from anything. This has been one of my best travel experiences in Europe. I travel a lot and usually stay in moderately priced hotels. I’ve only had disappointments in cities like London, Paris, Rome, Madrid, etc. But the Novotel in Moscow really blew me away. I’ll definitely stay here again and will recommend it to anyone.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

For a unique Russian gastronomical experience, there is a restaurant called "57" on a corner on the 3rd floor of the GUM department store, right on the Red Square. They have a great assortment of Russian dishes. It’s delicious and incredibly inexpensive ($20 for a full meal for 2 including beer!!!). Finally, don’t overlook the Noboslodovskaya metro station 2 blocks from the hotel. Take some time to appreciate the fabulous stain glass work on its walls.

Basic hotel at a reasonable rate

We stayed for four days with my family. Breakfast is included and was very good. There is a Metro station in just outside which makes getting around Moscow easy. This is not a fancy hotel but the room was clean and the staff were helpful. If you want a basic hotel in Moscow I would recommend this one.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Moscow is a very enjoyable city to visit.

Good, clean, comfortable, relatively affordable (for Moscow) and central hotel

This hotel is in my opinion the best hotel in the whole of Moscow if you compare what you get against what you pay. In Moscow there is, still in my opinion, no real correlation between what you pay and the quality you get. You can pay a lot for absolute rubbish, and nothing is ever cheap when it comes to hotels in Moscow. Overpricing unfortunately seems to be an infectious tendency, which in my opinion hurts Moscows tourism as a whole, and definately kills a lot of mye joy of visiting. Novotel is very nice break in the Moscow pricing pattern in this way. Priced almost like in Western Europe (perhaps somewhat higher) and the quality and service is definately up to speed, also by western standards without having to pay ridiculous amounts like in so many other hotels in Moscow. It is very close to the Metro. In fact situated on the very station almost. Nice staff and no trouble with anything. The hotel breakfast is nice and tasty and plenty of restaurants near by. This is my second stay there and Novotel is my first choice in Moscow now really. Will stay there again. Bear in mind that if you prolong your stay during a business week the rates can go up quite much compared to the online prices, for me it was up about 40-50% compared to the online rates, for the last night (the hotel was overbooked but the still managed to squeeze me in-great service!). But hey, my fault for not planning better.

Traveler's tip on dining

TGI Fridays, with nice food - ca 200 metres away. Great asian buffet + sushi bar across the street. And the russian chain stores (Yalki-Palki and Mu-mu) with good and affordable menues not far away.

Good value

A bit away from the very pricey places in the center of Moscow, the very efficient subway made it easy to get anywhere you needed to be.

Good hotel in Moscow

Good hotel. No problems generally. Booking taxi there costs RUB 700/h and it can be charged to the hotel bill. If you are landing on Sheremetyevo, just call the hotel and ask them to send the taxi to pick you up. It costs 1550 RUB and is way cheaper than the airport sharks, which will rip you off 2500 RUB+

Traveler's tip on dining

Just outside the hotel on the both opposite corners are 2 restaurants - way cheaper than the hotel. On these corners there is also underground entreance, when you can find water/cola etc + some snacks. 1 minute walk will save you plenty $$$

Very satisfied

It was a great price in Moscow, a city that had received the distinguished title of "World’s Most Expensive City" for 2 years running (2006 and 2007 -- who knows .. maybe 2008, too). It was next to one of the metro lines, so it was very convenient to get around. There were some nice shops along the street, also, and about a 1 KM walk up the street was a very nice in-door shopping mall where I found many furs and electronics. Breakfast was great, and the staff was courteous. I would DEFINITELY stay at this hotel again. Highly recommended.

Traveler's tip

The hotel entrance is on the side street - not the main street. We finally located it after looking around for a bit ...

Almost Perfect

The -only- problem was the bathroom door stop, which was broken. Everything else worked well. The bed, sofa, and bathroom worked perfectly. Neat and clean. The front desk spoke perfect English, which was important for me. The view was terrific, and the location was very convenient.

Quality, Efficient Hotel

My wife and I stayed at the hotel the week of 12/23. The hotel was very modern. The rooms were not overwhelming, but efficient and very clean. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Our package included a buffet breakfast every day. The food was excellent, quite and variety of items, and very fresh.

Traveler's tip on dining

The area was very safe but unfortunately did not offer a lot of options for dining out. There was only 1 American style restaurant within walking distance (TGI Fridays). This restauraunt was your typical Fridays, with the menu identical to the ones in the states.

Will use this hotel again.

As long as they will keep it clean and updated, it worth to stay there due to location and easy access to the center and other businesses.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Great location, almost in the center of the city. Good price range for stay.

Reasonable value, in expensive Moscow

It’s impossible to find a good value in Moscow, but Novotel comes closest in an astronomically expensive market. They include a lot (e.g. internet, bottled water and breakfast) that cost big bucks in other Moscow hotels. Think of these alone as a $60 discount! Also, it is very conveniently located on top of the Mendeleyevskaya metro station, which is the only effective way to get around in Moscow. Decor is a bit spartan, but perfectly adequate.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t be afraid to take the Metro! It is inexpensive, convenient and much quicker than driving. The hotel can give you an English/Russian route map.

Use it regularly

Very well managed hotel with some rooms having access to the Internet included in the room price. Major problem to be aware of is hiring taxi at hotel’s consierge. Seems like there is communication problem there and sometimes evening booked taxis are not available the next day morning. Problem is is not isolated but kind of trend.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Good for business trips.
