Great location, clean, basic hotel

Hotel Crown Insadong really met my expecationions - it located close to royal castles, near metro station and near airport bus stop. Getting to the central shopping areas is also easy by walking or taking short taxi ride. Rooms were clean, breakfast not too bad, staff very helpful. This is not a luxury hotel, but if you want to exlore the city and just come back to sleep - Hotel Crown Insadong is great value.

Good Location

The hotel was pretty decent - a bit shabby, but clean and comfortable and with an excellent location, close to the subway, shopping district, restaurants, and tourist attractions. The desk staff spoke both English and Japanese fluently. The room didn’t have an in room safe as advertised, and the breakfast was included for only one person (of two staying in the room), with the cost of the breakfast buffet being overpriced for the area and food served.

Best Value

If you’re looking for a luxuary hotel, this is NOT it! If you’re looking for a hotel that is the best VALUE, then you should stay here. It’s old, the furnitire is old, the carpet is old, but they keep it clean and safe. I left my door wide open for 4-5 hours from 7pm to 12midnight with laptop and other items out. Nothing was missing. I was amazed. Lucky, maybe. The hotel is full of Korean tourist, so it’s pretty safe and very Korean. The hotel staff could speak English and they have a business center that’s free and open 24/7! I stayed at a 4-star with no free internet and no free breakfast. Yes, this hotel has a free breakfast when I stayed there. So all in all, I will stay there again because it’s the best value. Everything is right there, subway, transportation, dinner, you name it and it’s about 2-5 minutes from you. There is a 7-11 across the street. 4-5 star hotel across the street. Everything you need is right there. Oh and those new to Seoul, it’s actually very small for 12.5 million people. The subway can get you anywhere pretty fast and gets you just about anywhere you want to go.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Go with the flow and don’t be surprised if the Korean’s completely ignore you. They will sit you far away from other tables at restaurants. They will completely ignore you on the subway. If you try to speak to someone in English they will act like they can’t speak English. The subway closes at midnight and 11pm on Sunday, but the bars stay open until 5am when the subway reopens. Cabs run all night and they are not that expensie, really they are not.
