Lovely hotel in a beautiful locale
Wed go back to the Hotel Aster in a minute! A beautifully-decorated and comfortable room, sparkling clean, and with many thoughtful appointments: wineglasses and a corkscrew (buy local and sip on the balcony!); comfy seating area and dish of candies; luxury linens and the best bed of our trip; coffee/tea setup. The hotel, which seems family-run, has a simple elegence and is in a swanky residential neighborhood just a short walk from the city center (at least by European vs. lazybones standards). Breakfast was scrumptious, the service friendly and professional. This was the best hotel of our two-week trip, at a wonderful price.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Do not miss the Schloss Tirol, the Romanesque castle best seen after a walk along the incredibly beautiful Weinweg. If its the season, buy some local fruit -- we had the best apples wed ever eaten (and Ive lived in apple regions). And try the local wines -- we brought a womderful Lagrein and a movable feast back to our room, for a final snack overlooking rooftops and trees.
