great for the price

This hotel is in Orient Bay, near one of my favorite beaches on the island. The rooms have a very Caribbean feel to them and are nice. Breakfast is included which is a major plus ++++ for us! Great for a short stay, has pool and restaurant.

Awesome, Very Pleased, Great Value!

L’Hoste Hotel was an excellent choice for my wife and I. It is in the middle of Orient Bay and very laid back and comfortable. We were very pleased. I was worried about the "hard beds" we read about in some of the other reviews but they were fine. The showers without shower curtains located in front of a huge bathroom mirror was very inspiring! At first, It was shocking to go to the beach in the morning and see nude people coming from Club Orient walking on the beach which is acceptable up until 8:30 am. When I asked a couple about it and they told me it is ok early in the morning, I removed my suit and ran 3 miles naked from one end of the beach to the other every morning! The hotel breakfast is worth the trip. It was served within 30 seconds after we sat down every morning! It is exactly like the picture. We can’t wait to go back! We travel a lot and this was the best trip we ever took.

The french cuisine is superb, at the small village close by and Grand Case, Marigot and Phillipsburg via a cab. "Gus, the driver the hotel recommends, is great! He got us to all the right places and is very friendly.

Will definitely go back!

This was my second stay at this hotel. I returned becauce of the great staff and service and they are top notch. Continental breakfast was excellent, fruit, yougurt, bread, coffee juice and croissants that are out of this world. Rooms are in good condition and the small kitchen area was a big help for lunch and a couple of dinners that I had in the room. Pool area and all the grounds are manicured and the staff is constantly workinging to keep everything tidy and clean. Looking forward to my next stay.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is a walkway next to the pool that will take you to the back of a small shopping area. Go to the Tap 5 Market for great pizza and baked goods. Saved a lot of money on meals that I ate in the room.

Ordinary

This hotel was nothing to rave about. The rooms were a little dingy with the ceiling falling apart. As expected, there were a lot of bugs (inside and out). On the plus side, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The beachfront is beautiful and you can get one of the best rates on parasailing. However, I’m sure you can find that at another hotel that’s cleaner and maintained a little bit better.

We are extremely satisfied with our stay in L’Hoste hotel in St. Martin. We stayed there for 7 nights and I have no complain at all !! We loved the location of the hotel, the beach, the beach resteurant, the breakfast, almost everything. I stronly recommend this hotel.

Very nice hotel on orient beach

Great location in the middle of orient beach. Nice room with free breakfast daily. You get two free beach chairs and umbrella right on beachfront of hotel.Hotel is older but room had been remodeled and was fine. Rooms use 220v electric and most US small appliances(hairdryer, curling irons,etc) need an adapter. A mix of american and europeans with many woman enjoying going topless on beachfront of hotel . A lot of the people at the hotel were repeat customers from the US. Local vendors on beach can be annoying but just say no & they leave you alone. Not impressed with club orient (nude beach at south end of beach/ about 1/2 mile from hotel- mostly older couples who should keep their clothes on. Still to each their own and if they enjoy it more power to them. Rest of beach better age mix with plenty of water sports available. Very little night life. Hotel has decent pool and nearby village has a few restaurants and a small grocery/pizza place. Nice place to have a relaxing beach week but you will have to take a taxi or have a rental to experience rest of island or nightlife. You do get direct TV with a lot of english and french channels. US dollar accepted everywhere but you pay much more than the euro price due to exchange rate. Food very expensive on French side of island. A few cats on premises of hotel and a few dogs on beach.We got off season rates(june) and hotel was a great value for the money. HIGHLY recommend L’Hoste for a great get away on a beautiful beach.

Perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a low-key hotel right on Orient Beach. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff was professional and accomodating. And the location could not be beat. Great restaurant at the hotel and numerous restaurants and bars nearby. I will definitely be back.

Best Hotel on Orient Bay

What a nice couples get-a-way! The hotel is quiet and laid back. The breakfast is superb. The staff is excellent - attentive to every need. Our room, a Bamboo Deluxe King on the third floor was very private and comfortable. The beach was gorgeous with ample lounges and umbrellas with service at your beckoning. The hotel is conveniently located near the neighborhood "village centre" where there are a selection of restaurants and shops. We’d definitely go back.

In May, when we were there, the beach amenities - bar, restaurant and service - closed at 4:30 pm. It was a bit annoying the first day, but we adjusted our plans for the remainder of the week. Don’t eat at the Asian Restaurant on the square, the food is substandard and over priced.

Great hotel!

I would return to St. Martin and I would stay at this hotel again. The staff could not have been more friendly. The food was great at the hotel and affordable. My only complaint would be that the beds were hard, but that could just be a personal preference thing. Great experience!!

orient beach is the most beautiful beach of saint martin.when you stay to the l,hoste hotel enjoy the white sand the turquoise water and the french restaurant at nite on the little square.

Location, Location, Location

Set right off the beach, this lovely hotel with a very friendly staff is a nice place to stay. Don’t expect luxury and you will not be disappointed. Also pay for the room upgrades as the gardenview rooms are pretty spartan. Nice, simple breakfast. Bread, yogurt, fruit. Decent pool for St Martin. And the fantastic beach with included chair and umbrella. Overall a low stress place to stay on a low stress Island.

Great Beach Location

The hotel was very appealing and the room was quite nice. Unfortunately, as inviting as the bed seemed to be, the mattress was like sleeping on box springs. I would most likely try a different hotel on the next trip.

Most prices on the French side are in Euros. If you pay cash the merchants will charge you 1 US $ for 1 Euro. If you pay by credit card the exchange rate is used. For us that meant that every purchase on our card was charged $1.35 US for every Euro.

This hotel is not fancy but it is clean and comfortable and you walk right out the door and down to Orient Beach.

There are 5 or 6 restaurants in a kind of mini-mall just a few feet away. The food is adequate but pricey ...... much better fare can be found a short drive away, either in other Orient Beach restaurants or, better yet, ten minutes away, the streets of Grand Case are lined with excellent dining.

Thoroughly enjoyable beach hotel

The proximity to a fabulous beach and to plenty of excellent dining made this hotel a stay for a perfect island vacation. Also, the staff provided wonderful service with many smiles.

Our First Experience In St. Martin!

We could not complain about the continental breakfasts! We looked forward to it every day! The front desk was helpful with any questions that we had. Our room was always clean and we appreciated every smile we received from the staff.

We did not feel the need to rent a car while we were there, since we intended on staying on the French side. Take advantage of the wonderful local food! There is a place in Grande Case called Lolo’s. AMAZING! Also, the french cuisine is to die for! There really is no need to convert your US dollars to Euros. The conversions is different everywhere you go. Take advantage of the beautiful Orient Beach! It can be both a relaxing experience as well as a social scene.

Great value close to beach

Rooms are 2 minutes from Orient Beach. The entire staff is very freindly and helpful. The food in St Martin is great and L’Hoste has several restaurants in a plaza minutes away as well as the beach restaurants for lunch. Grand Case is close by with it’s numerous great restaurants. All in all a great place for a mid winter vacation.

Le Ti Provencal in Grand Case is wonderful and be sure to try the LoLos for an inexpensive meal.

Worth the money!

First of all let me tell you that Breakfast is included and is wonderful. They give you way too much and its all bread, fruit, juice,yogert, and coffee or tea. There is a safe in the rooms. The rooms are above average and the cleaning lady was wonderful. The bad things are the buildings need repair and new paint. The beach is not nude anymore. My hub and I didnt bring suits so I got a thong and so did hubby. We spent most of our time at club Orients beach and you can walk there. They rent chairs for $6 each. We actually stayed here opening year and we could be naked anywhere. Wonderful time and there is lots of close restaurants. We will be back. We hated the beach junk sellers but got use to it. No I dont want my hair braded!!!!

Overall Very Positive

Overall my wife and I were very impressed with the hotel. It was steps away from the beach and breakfast every morning was a big time saver. We also really liked that the room had a refrigerator and sink as it was easy to hold leftovers and snacks for later. Beach towels were provided at the front desk. The rooms condition was somewhere between fair and good. The furniture was a little old and it was clear that the paint and appliances had seen their fair share of use. The price was very reasonable though for the location and there was nothing about the room that was unacceptable, just a little older than you might expect. We would definitely consider staying there again and would easily recommend to other people going to the area.

Just lovely

Serene, peaceful, lovely, charming, and above all private. This is a great place to stay if you really want to get away from the world. The staff are friendly, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. I would definitely stay again.

There is a grocery store/mini-mall area that offers a variety of stuff, but the service isn’t always pleasant. The beach bars are also a bit tough on the service meter.

L’Hoste is the most!

After eading every review good/bad I couldn’t wait to share my experience with L’Hoste. From the minute we checked in with Kelly to the minute we had to depart our experince was great!!!The staff was very helpful with local information and directions as well as idea’s on where to explore. We spent a day on Pinel Island and it was absolutely fantastic. We ended up renting a car after reading how $$ cab rides were. Excellent Idea. Driving was a breeze. The island does lack good signage but as long as you pay attention you’ll have no problem getting around. There’s only one main road so It’s easy to get lost and unlost at the same time!!The hotel is located right on top of a small shopping/dining area which we found to be perfect for our needs. A samll grocery store had everything you could need for a great relaxing time away from "It ALL" we found the restaurants to be excellent. Be sure to bring cash for tips though as we found out you can’t add then to your bill when Using a Credit card. Also there aren’t a lot of ATM’S available so remember that when you need cash in a hurry.Beach was superb and the area around the hotel had plenty to offer as far as nightlife was concerned. One big party in our opinion!!! L’Hoste was fantastic. We’ll be back as soon as possible....

Rent a car at the airport. Reserve it online to save some money. We found the driving to be fine. If you’ve ever driven in a major U.S. city you’ll find the driving on the island to be a breeze..Quite an adventure as well..

Another Great Visit

We’ve stayed in this hotel twice, both times it was wonderful. Just a short walk to the beautiful beach. The services were great, the continental breakfast was enough that you didn’t need anything else for your morning start. We will be returning in 2010 for our ten year anniversary and will be staying at L’Host and we can not wait! Thanks L’Host

Look on line at the local entertainment sections, we were surprised to find out about an all night DISCO party on our beach but didn’t plan for it, too bad maybe next time. And of course the FULL MOON party is a good time as well.
