Ok place for budget travelers to stay around UC LA campus.

Nice thing about the hotel is that they provide free parking. The room facing the street was noisy due to noise coming from the street lantern right next to the hotel.

What a Great Find

This is a lovely little hotel in the heart of Westwood. It ’s close to shops and restaurants and has easy access to the 405 Expressway. The staff is very courteous and helpful. One evening the owner himself was at the hotel and gave us advice on how to park our car so that we wouldn’t be ticketed. The rooms are newly decorated, very clean and comfortable. It was a real pleasure to stay at the Royal Palace Westwood ,and we’ll definitely stay there again our next time in LA..

comfortable and cozy

Kingsized bed is really comfortable. Room had refrigerator and microwave which is a plus. Personnel were friendly and helpful. Within walking distance of Medical Plaza. Would use Royal Palace Westwood again.

Best place to stay if visiting UCLA

Front desk staff very helpful. Only problem was difficulty in making wireless connection.

Royal Palace Westwood currently undergoing remodeling

This hotel has decent sized rooms with appropriate ammenities and free parking (which is a big plus in Westwood). We have stayed there before, and have been happy with our accommodations. This trip they were remodeling the hotel, so the room smelled of paint and the phone and TV did not work. The staff was aplolgetic and offered us a discount on a future stay. Overall, this is one of the closest best place to stay at if you are visiting UCLA. The UCLA guest house is always full.

Book early if you are arriving on a major UCLA occasion like move-in weekend or graduation.

Free upgrade to room with jacuzzi

This is an old hotel with narrow hallways and an old lift. The bathroom (with jacuzzi) was large and considerably clean and well lit. However, the room was not well lit and the carpets looked old and not particularly clean. There was a kitchenette area, but with some utensils, but if you want to really cook something, you’d have to come with your own equipment. There is a cooking range and a microwave and fridge. There is also a small dining table with four chairs. I don’t know if the room I booked is similar in size/facilities, as we got upgraded to this room without charge. Breakfast is simple, but enough to get you started on the day. The surroundings are safe and you can walk around at night. Overall, I was happy with the hotel.

Needs Updating

The hotel price and location were great. The carpet was dirty, and much of the decor and furnishings were vintage 1980s. With a upgrades and new carpets, this hotel could be much, much better.

Great value for location

I needed to be at UCLA for my daughter’s Orientation, and didn’t want to spend a bundle. The hotel common areas were very basic, kind of like entering a dorm. But the room was spacious, the beds comfortable, and the furnishings attractive. The bathroom reflected the basic nature of the hotel ... not lavish, but clean and serviceable. The continental breakfast, likewise, was basic: no omelet bar, but you could get toast, fruit, coffee, juices and pastry. A great value for so close to campus. BTW: It took me about 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the dorms.

Great place to stay

Not extravagant, but the location more than makes up for that. Very basic breakfast, rooms have been updated. I would recommend it especially if you need to stay somewhere near UCLA.

Pretty good place to stay

The hotel’s location is probably its best selling feature - on a quiet street within easy walking distance of Westwood Village. The mattress was actually very comfortable and firm. The decor is very dated, and the hinges on the closet door and screen from the sleeping area to the living area were broken, so the place needs some attention. But it was a clean, comfortable, quiet place to stay so if I return to the area I would be glad to stay there again.

Best value in Westwood

Great location, generous size and low price, it’s hard to imagine a better value in the area. Hotels with 2 queen beds or suites typically will cost several times the rate at the Royal Palace. Add to that a parking space guaranteed for every room and it’s unbeatable. As one might imagine, there is very little "royal" or "palatial" about the hotel; don’t stay here if you expect luxury.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

UCLA, Westwood, Hammer Museum, movies and a host of activities all within a few blocks. Walk to your destinations in LA... unheard-of!

Excellent Location - Recommended

Right near UCLA/Westwood, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Century City. The bed was very comfortable. The room was large and the mini-fridge was useful. Free parking for 1 car was very convenient in Westwood. It is not fancy by any means, but recommended none the less.

Good for the price

It was clean and comfortable and no bed bugs. The internet did not work most of the stay and no one was very interested in getting it fixed. Our room looked into the room of a not so nice hotel next door, but all in all it was close to UCLA, it was quiet and clean and for the area inexpensive. I felt safe and the other guests seemed nice.

Conveniently located for my needs and will return on my next trip.

The hotel provides a traveler with the basic necessities: comfortable beds, a hot shower, a tv, a kitchenette and a fresh continental breakfast. The cleaning service was efficient and considerate. The location next to UCLA and close to Beverly Hills and West LA was excellent for my needs. If you are looking for a fancy hotel with a pool,look elsewhere. But for the basics, this is a great place to stay. (Because of our advanced booking via Expedia, we were given a room upgrade! Thanks Royal Palace Westwood.)

We would stay there again

It was conveniently located to ULCA Jules Stein which was the purpose of the trip. Walking distance to shops, food, movie theater and quiet. Nice and quiet. The continental breakfast was standard fare and good quality.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Comfortable, internet connections, the room had small kitchenette, table and chairs. LCD Flat screen on the wall and a huge bathroom with jazcuzzi tub.

Ok but a over priced.

This hotel is older and in great need of updating especially in the common areas. It’s location is close to shopping, dinning and UCLA. I would probably search for somewhere else to stay in the area because given the condition of the hotel, it is overpriced.

Very convenient if visiting someone in UCLA. Close to restaurants and shopping. Biggest drawback is that the hotel has limited hotel parking.

BED BUGS - BEWARE

I stayed in this hotel for just over a week while I was job hunting in LA. I booked it for it’s location. However, I came away covered in bites all over my body - THERE WERE BEDBUGS IN MY ROOM and I know they were bedbugs because I have since looked online and the two brown insects I killed in the room were definitely bed bugs. NASTY!!!

AVOID THIS HOTEL UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE BITTEN BY NASTY BED BUGS.
