Friendly staff, aging facility
Affordable basic lodging. Location is great, just a couple of blocks from the Nimitz Museum, shops and restaurants. There are newer hotels not far away at a similar price point. Carpets and fixtures could be updated; towels were paper thin, shows lack of recent investment. Front desk staff were efficient and polite. Usual Super8 breakfast in the lobby was well stocked.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
LBJ Ranch: Great place to see wildflowers adn wildlife; swingsets and picnic tables for the kids. Take the narrated bus tour to get the full flavor and hear some good stories. In the other direction, climb Enchanted Rock. It is walkable to the top if you are in decent shape and there are great views from above and below.

Needs serious cleaning
Beds were old but comfortable. Bedspreads were stained and had cigarette burns. The carpeting was filfthy, couldn’t walk on it without getting black feet. Our door key came demagnitized after almost every use. We would stay here again, BUT only if most other places in town were all full. And avoid the German Restaurant closest to the hotel, on the same side of the street, they have the rudest staff and the dirtiest kitchen imaginable.
Traveler's tip on dining
Avoid Der Lindenbaum, waitstaff was worse than rude, portions were small, kitchen was filfthy. The Auslander Restaurant was much, much better for German food. Good prices, portions, waitstaff and food.0
