Pleasantly surprised
We booked this hotel because it was near a conference we were attending. Its not much to look at on the outside, but the inside is attractive and comfortable. The staff were very helpful with recommending tours and giving us directions. From the hotel its an easy walk to many sights, and there are several tube stations close by as well.

Well priced in a good location
This was my first stay at a Novotel and also the first stay in London on the south side of the Thames. We did lots of walking and only used the hotel for sleeping/crashing, i.e. did not spend lots of downtime in the hotel. Under those circumstances the hotel was perfect. It is very conveniently located near the Millenium Bridge, Tate Modern, The Globe, etc. which meant we could walk anywhere. St. Pauls was a 10 minute walk over the bridge which meant we were in striking distance of many tube lines. Bourough Market is also three blocks away which is a great foody activity on weekends (although crowded). If you want a hotel in the heart of the city then this is not the one for you. If you want a hotel in a quiet, slightly off-the-beaten-path location then I recommend the hotel. Our room had one double bed and a couch that turned into a double sleeper. The furniture was of the Ikea variety in terms of style and quality, which was "good enough". The only real complaint I had is that internet service was pricey and in 2009 would have liked it to be free. We did not use the restaurant but it looked packed every morning for breakfast. There were ample alternate choices for breakfast within a few blocks.

Nice hotel, good location
A good affordable hotel in a good location. The hotel is clean and modern. The rooms are nice with modern furniture and decor. The staff is courteous and helpful. London Bridge tube station and bus stop are close by. We used RV1 bus line which takes you to Tower bridge and central London. Tower bridge is within 5 minutes by bus. We stayed for a couple of days with kids and enjoyed the stay.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
You can use the public bus service with a Travelcard (you can buy it at the tube station). Kids do not pay. Buses were not crowded, easy to use and bus drivers were helpful.
