Would stay at Club Bamboo again

I was very satisfied with the Club Bamboo and will stay there again when I return. The hotel was within 15-20 minutes walking distance to the beach and Bangla Street. The hotel does provide shuttle service to the beach area every hour for free. All of the workers there are very pleasant and accomodating. I liked everything about the hotel and look forward to staying there again.

The easiest way to stop the vendor’s from bothering you is to just ignor them. Once you start to talk with them they will put the sales pitch on. This also goes for the vendor’s on the street

Very Nice - esepcially for the Price!

Good location, away from the crazyness of Pathong but still able to walk to town. Staff was very friendly, lovely breakfast and pool.

Clean yet worn family run budget hotel

Owned and managed by a Dutch family, this hotel had a very cozy and friendly feel to it. Nestled in the Patong hills it is not your typical square box hotel but it had rooms and corridors in several directions and levels. The hotel is clean but worn and a good value for the money I paid. The hotel restaurant/bar was expensive and uninspired but why eat at the hotel when you have 100’s of good restaurants nearby. The location was not great -- the beach is about a mile and a half away and the bar disctrict about two so not in walking distance. In the beginning I used the hourly hotel shuttle to get there and then taxi (tuk-tuk) back. I then ended up renting a Yamaha motorscooter for about $4 per day and this was definately worth it since the tuk-tuks charges a minimum of $5 per trip.

Nice and quiet

The hotel may be a little out of the Bangla Road nightlife, but it makes it nice to have some quiet time. The hotel runs a shuttle to the beach and Jungceylon or Bangla during the day, and taking a tuk-tuk back is between 150 - 200B. The Rooms are not huge, but had a comfortable feeling to them. The bungalows were roomy, but needed to update the TV and Sewage System. The restaurant was top notch and the pool was great for an afternoon swim.

Surprisingly, I can’t wait to go back!

I was a little worried after reading some of the other comments. After staying in the Penthouse suite for 14 days, we were extremely happy with our experience at Club Bamboo. The room was clean, exotically decorated, and there was a wonderful view of the sea. The price worked with our budget and the location was in a quieter part of town which was only 10 - 15 minutes from the beach (fyi - fireworks all night, every night in town). The hotel provides a shuttle every hour until 9pm, but easy enough to grab a tuk tuk or walk at night. The front desk will call and make any reservations for day trips and shows. Beach towels provide. The pool was clean and the waterfall was relaxing. There was a DVD collection list with over 200 new movies. You could call the front desk and they would put your selection on a specific channel. They allow you to get pizza delivered. I have so many more positives. My advice is, if you want a generic luxury hotel that is "perfect" and with absolutely no flaws, this isn’t for you. But if you want a charming, exotic "Thai" feel, this is perfect. As for all the physical dangers people complained about, did you walk on sidewalks in downtown Patong (holes, wires hanging etc)? Nothing like that at Club Bamboo so I was really surprised to find things exaggerated. The only complaint I have is with the restaurant. Every time we tried the food it was disappointing; Also, no vegetarian options available despite there being many alternatives in town.

Be aware: Many many stairs

We selected this hotel because it seemed distant from the noise of Phuket, but not too far out. The gardens are lovely. The location is "a bit away" (not an easy walk to the beach, since you must walk on the road; but you can ask for a shuttle on the hour, although it picks people up at the beach only twice per day). Unfortunately, a road goes right by the hotel and in many rooms you are treated to engine noises, especially motorcycles, long into the night and from early in the morning. The front staff, always very kind, did manage to find us a quieter room for our second night on, which helped with our sleep. Our main warning regarding the hotel is extensive stairs (up to five outdoor flights, with few handrails)and no lift. We followed an elderly woman up to breakfast one morning and almost offered to carry her. This hotel is not for parents with strollers or toddlers, or for anyone who doesn’t enjoy climbing up and down stairs. But it is adequate for the young and strong.

Excellent choice

With so many excellent hotels this was one of many choices to pick from, but a good one indeed. We stayed in the bungalow which had an overview of the beach and Andaman Sea, beautiful to watch the storms roll by. Requesting movies is a trick since appears wires were switched between the other room. Problem with the plug in the bath, but not enough to not recommend this hotel. A brief and brisk walk to get to the main road to the beach, restaurants and shops. There is a large hill to get down to the main road but made it up just fine drunk (not for the hard at walking).

Traveler's tip on nightlife

15-20 minute walk to get to Bangla street where Muay Thai is located. Restaurants, clubs, shops, tailors, anything you want is very close by. Easy and safe to walk, did it all times of the day early and late a couple times a day.
