Great stay

Great place to stay. Near to wonderful restaurants, shopping and Big Kahuna’s Water park. We stayed on the 7th floor and we had a beautiful view of the gulf and beach. Room was spacious and clean and we saved money by using the kitchen to cook breakfast and have snacks. Had trouble connecting to their wireless internet and front desk was not very helpful. This place does charge a cleaning fee at the end of your stay and there is no maid service. Overall we loved it and will return.

Like fishing? Try Olin Marler’s fishing trips. We caught red snapper and the crew cleaned the fish and gave us the filet to take home. Must try AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar a mile down the road. It’s on the marina and the food is fantastic!!

The atmosphere was very pleasant and the hotel was family-friendly. The staff was always helpful and kind. There was a nasty spot on the upper back of the loveseat that looked like dried food, but given the random color pattern of the living room suite (making it almost blend in) and the fact that it was the only trivial problem with our entire stay, we could look past it.

It was okay...great view!

We went to SunDestin on our honeymoon. When we first got to our room on the 10th floor we opened the door and the smell of maple syrup and cigarettes about knocked us down. We opened the place up to see if we could air it out a bit while we were at dinner. It didn’t work. We called the front desk and they were very nice to give us another room. It was fantastic!! Apparently all of the rooms are privately owned and so they are all decorated and furnished by these owners. Some are nicer than others. The location is great...close to Wal-Mart, etc. If you stay here it is worth the extra money to get an ocean view! The beach is amazing. You have to rent your beach chair and umbrella for about $20/day or you can go to Wal-Mart and buy your own stuff.

Eat at the Back Porch...food is good and the view is great too! Also, we took the jet ski tour with the dolphins...amazing!!

We absolutely loved it at the Condo - great staff ... beach boys that did chairs were wonderful - we enjoyed the beach and the pools. The bar and grill had good food and staff in it was very friendly. Also, in a wonderful location. We’d ask for nothing more. Well done, Sun Destin!

AWESOME

These people were really top notch in the service department. Anything we needed was immediately taken care of, from an earlier check in because our flight was so early, to beach umbrella reservations to free dvd movies to the cleanest, most comfortable room ever. The room is a condo not a hotel. This simply means more room but no daily room service (the front desk still gives towels etc if you ask). Such a great location in the middle of the "strip", it was right on the beach, has an indoor and outdoor pool, a bar/restaurant on the premises and of course, incredible beachfront ambiance. We are going back in two years with the kids because the beach is so clean, soft, not hot (because of the white sand) and the surf was managable (we went in May.) The soft sand goes quite a ways out into the water. The full kitchen and dining table for four saved us a TON of money! We even entertained another couple with lunch for a fraction of the cost it would have cost us all to go out! Everyone that worked there was incredibly friendly and energetic. Would love to keep re-living it but got to get back to the grind!

Did not want to come home!

Of course, I say that about every vacation. This was directly located on a beautiful stretch of beach. Decor in the condo was a little dated but it was neat and we had everything we needed. Especially liked the additional 1/2 bath - makes getting ready to go out easier. Really nice workout center with good equipment - used it a lot. Only downer is the gift shop was "closed due to illness" for three days - on the first day I saw something I wanted to go back and buy and I never had the chance. They are also closed on Sunday. They had some really cute well-priced items but you’d better buy when you find them open and not wait. The pools, bathrooms, etc. all around the hotel were also very well maintained. I would definitely go back, it was a real bargain!

Within walking distance of Walmart to stock up on everything you need for a condo stay. Right in the middle of lots of restaurants.

Poorest example of customer service We have ever experienced!

While checking into this hotel my son aged 20 and Active Duty Army was told to wear an ID bracelet which could not be removed unless cut off. The hotel night manager insisted if he was on property w/o the bracelet it would be grounds for our immediate eviction from the hotel. We "modified" the bracelet to ensure it could come on/off and he could wear a uniform when he returned to base occasionally during our stay. We were soundly reprimanded by this same manager. Once in our room we tried to leave but the door would not lock. We asked for maintenance and were told it would be several hours and to wait. We asked for a new room but were told it would cost more. After much discussion (the manager was continually raising her voice and embarrassing everyone while we remained calm and kept politely asking for another room w/o additional cost) she finally agreed to post a security guard outside our room to wait for maintenance to fix the door and secure our belongings. This entire debacle took over 1.5 hours before we could leave the hotel to eat. When we returned from dinner 3 hours later the key card access to open and lock door was fixed but the deadbolt was broken. Without contacting the hotel we REPAIRED the deadbolt ourselves. The next morning I had an extended conversation with the Hotel General Manager who was most gracious and offered many apologies and a meal for our party. This is not the kind of memory we had hope to create during our stay in beautiful Destin Florida.

Very nice but the weather did not cooperate!

I made our reservations through Expedia and was suppose to get one night free after spending 3 nights. Nothing was mentioned about the tax, registration fee (since I made reservations on line) or the cleaning fees and when I checked out those fees were added to my credit card which amounted the about the same amount as the extra night would have cost. If we had been told this up front, I probably would not complain, but nothing was said until we checked out and since they had our credit card number, this was added to our card, even though the original charges were added through Expedia.

Great stay for the price

I just got back from a stay there with my husband and 4 yr old son. It was RIGHT on the beach, fully stocked with dishes and pots and silverwear and all that stuff that makes staying a little easier! (Not that we ended up cooking on our vacation though!) It was a great location for a great price and I would definitely go there again. My son enjoyed the heated pool the most, there were a lot of other kids for him to play with there. It was $20 dollars to rent the chairs and umbrella for the entire day on the beach, which was no big deal, and there were a lot of great restaurant choices in close range! It was even close to a walmart for those quick last minute necessities.

I took advice from a friend and was NOT disappointed, eat at McGuire’s Pub! It was the best place we ate the entire time we were there! A little pricey but totally worth it!

Definately will be back

This condo was more than we expected. Beautiful decor which made it more like home than just another hotel or condo. The friendliness of staff was a cut above the rest. The views of the ocean and the convienance of all the immenities were outstanding.

Awesome experience

This condo was more that I imagined that it would be. Even though we didn’t have an ocean view, we couldn’t have asked for better. The room was great and had every comfort of home. The only complaint I have is that the master bed was a little uncomfortable, but that is to be expected. We would use this resort again!

Many attractions were closed during the week of spring break, keep in mind what season you are traveling during.

Great Spring Break Location!

Sun Destin is a great family oriented condo resort. Fun activities for the kids and private beach a plus! Condo was a bit outdated on furniture but extremely clean and comfortable. Great location. Fun for family or group events!

We stocked up on breakfast and lunch items from the local grocery stores and enjoyed the beach as much as possible. Then dined out for dinner. There were lots of places, we really enjoyed Carraba’s

Very Good Place to Stay for the Money

All service that I received here was excellent, and the staff that I interacted with were very nice. The front desk staff were very helpful, and explained procedures for using the fitness center, spa and DVD library. The beach chair/umbrella rental staff were also very pleasant and laid back. The beach was beautiful and clean. The pool and all surrounding areas were well maintained and clean. The bar/grill was only open at certain hours - maybe because it was considered off-season. This was not a problem as there were tons of restaurants in the area. The condo was extremely clean upon arrival - I would love to have those people clean my house!! There was not daily maid service - unless you wanted to pay extra. However, one knew this up front - after all, you are staying in a condo - not a hotel room. I found this non-service to be just fine as I did not have to worry about putting the ’do not disturb’ sign out each night. The kitchen had everything that one needed to cook a full meal. Many people like to talk about rooms/furnishings looking ’dated’ in their reviews. Yes, the wallpaper could have used an update. However, who really cares when there is a gorgeous beach/ocean right outside to enjoy? Great place to stay!

Stock up your fridge with plenty of things for breakfast and lunch, especially if you’re coming/going to the beach during the day. Saves a lot of time and money!

Totally satisfied and even better than expected

They were very courteous and called our room to ask about our stay. Any time we needed assistance, there were 2-3 ready to help. Staff always smiling and ready to talk. Not like some where it is a hit and go on type contact. They seemed very genuine and definitely doing a job they loved or at least fulfilled the requirements of a first class hotel.

Located in the midst of many fine restaurants and fun activities. The hotel itself had 2 beach chairs and an umbrella at a rate cheaper than most places I have visited.

Old, Dated, Star rating is too high for this hotel

NO Black Out Drapes, NO Hair dryer, NO Shampoo,etc. Room color and funishings are dated. TV’s are small. The view is great. Location is great. They charge for setup on the beach. Most beach hotels this is a free service. When I asked for a better room they said there were no better rooms. They were not full. Very few people there.

The room was larger than expected with a great view of the beach. I love the location. It is right on the beach! What I didn’t like was the fact that you had to rent the umbrella and chairs. If you bring your own umbrella, you can’t use it! You can use your own chairs. The hotel is clean and has everything you need. Very spacious. I would use the same resort if I came back...wish it was a little bit cheaper though! Other than that, the hotel made my vacation very pleasant.

Was clean and nice. Air conditioning system old, poorly maintained-struggled to keep up.Lavatory drains slow. Safe inoperative. Perfect view of beach right above pool. Close,easy access to shopping,clubs, restaurants,parasailing,fishing

Do the parsailing down by the bay bridge-not from the hotel. Go to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.

Nice place to stay at the beach

Very nice hotel, location on the beach is great. Amenities are good. Only problem was the bed in the unit we stayed in, it was not very good.

Nice Place

We went there with 3 kids during the Spring Break. This place is clean for the most part. Everything was working the way it is supposed to. We had a comfortable stay. The private beach was overcrowded with too many Beach Chairs and Umbrellas (for which they charge a fees). I wish they did not over commercialize this aspect of it.

Take your own Beach chairs which you can use during the evening and nighttime when the Hotel’s Beach chairs are removed. Take enough towels.

Good Place to Stay

My husband was a little surprised when we were checking in that we were renting a condo and not a hotel room, but later he welcomed the non-disturbance of housekeeping throughout our stay. Great location on the water and the road, and lots to do near by.

Pleasant experience

Hotel front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean but needed minor repairs in storage areas. Access to the local stores was excellent. All in all it was a pleasant experience.
