Not Impressed

My stay at the hotel is actually in two parts, upon arrival in Bangkok we stayed here for two days on the 6th floor and was told that the expedia booking didn’t include the breakfast buffet which wasn’t no big deal to us, those two days was very nice and relaxful, we checked out for two days to explore more parts of Thailand and returned for a 4 day stay and was placed in a smoking room, we told them our request was for a non-smoking room and they did quickly placed us in a room on the 4th floor that was non-smoking, however, on the 4th floor we noticed very big carpet stains in the hallway of the hotel and the furniture in the room was a little stained and torn, other than that the room was clean and relaxful. The only incident that ruined the whole trip was on checking out we noticed charges for using the room telephone on the day that we checked in, we told them that we never used the telephone and had no reason to make any local calls there. They actually argued the point that the receipt showed the calls coming from our room on that day. We was in total shock, it was like being accused of a crime that you didn’t commit. We decided since the charges was less than a dollar it was no sense in arguing, we paid it and decided not to return to this hotel again.

Very nice out of the way hotel

Nice Four Star hotel. Only problem I had was that there was no free breakfast included like it was when I stayed in 2007. Apparently it wasn’t in Expedia’s Contract this year. But over all this hotel is a great place to stay. Need to walk a few minutes to find a "sit-down" place to eat, the dining in the hotel is expensive for Thailand.

A little ways from downtown. But a few minute walk will get you to most places to eat and drink.

Very Satisfied

Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable with a good view of the city. However, the hotel amenities were a bit sparse. The location was very good for food and upscale bars.

Elegant but out of place

The hotel is wonderfully decorated but is showing its age. Located way inside Soi 11 with a long walk to everywhere makes this hotel a no no for leisure travelers. I stayed at the Solitaire Suite which is spacious and well appointed. Age is showing in the rooms, lobby and pool areas. Staff very friendly. Breakfast too pricey and the Ananda spa not very relaxing for the huge money they charged. Overall the stay was good and I will go back soon again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Buy the water and snacks from the 7/11 just a few meters from the hotel. Do not buy from the minibar...you will be fleeced.

Value for Money

Stay here often. Have always found the Staff to be friendly and efficient. Rooms are comfortable but need some updating. Near a couple od Discos so very noisy. Hotel needs noiseproof windows!!! Cleanliness generally good.

President Solitaire BKK

Service was very good, all staff worked hard always with a smile, room was quite large and comfortable. Breakfast has good variety of foods. Full room amenities provided, and fast in room wireless internet, and LCD/Plasma TV. Couch and full kitchen with cookware. Carpets and batroom do show some age and use, but it is not a new hotel. Only problem was air conditioning wasn’t adjustable. Clubs on Soi 11 clog the streets late night. Would recommend this hotel.

Coffee Shop (that is the actual name) just down Soi 11 toward Shukumvit has great food at reasonable prices.

Always good

was a pleasant stay , comfortable, homely and reasonably priced. hotel is in the proximity of the famous Q Bar , Bed Super Club, and the Moritz. Also Cilly Culture, a good Thai restaurant serving an excellent variety to those wishing to endure the HEAT.

Value for the Money

The Staff are thoughtful and very helpfull and anticipate your needs. My Room was very comfortable. Location is very good for those doing business in Bangkok.

Run down hotel

The carpet in the hallway of several floors are dirty and stained. There is a moldy smell around after you get off the elevator. The rooms are large but furniture are old which give an impression of a run down hotel. The staff certainly is not very pleasant and offer no apology when all card keys acces to all 4 roooms I reserved have been removed by mistake. On the first day when I arrived at 3:00 PM, the rooms were not available so they gave me 1 room and told me to have all 8 people to go there until they have the other 3 available around 5:00 PM or after. I told them that I have 3 senior citizen traveling in my group and they need to rest but can’t fit all in the same room so they told me to take everyone shopping and come back later. NIce!!!! I would not come back to this hotel anymore

Great Hotel

Great room with a fantastic view. Nice big bathroom. The pool was very clean. The workout room could use an update--older equipment and some of it was broken. The hotel staff was very nice and very helpful. We would stay there again.

My second stay

This is my second visit to this hotel. I went last summer and was extremely pleased. When I came back this week, the door man remembered me (and I remembered him) and he greeted me with a warm smile. All of the staff are top notch and give you personalized attention. The rooms are absolutely fabulous. Wood floors, remote lighting, flat screen plasma TV, large bathroom with jaccuzi tub, kitchenette, living room, nice view, orchid flowers, & the best bar soap (gylcerine) in the region (be sure to snag a few bars if you can - LOL). Hotel is walking distance to Sukhomvit (spelling) street with lots of action - depending on what you are looking for; malls, restaraunts, street food, massage, vendors, Arab district, bars, & massive and vibrant street night life. The hotel is comfortably situated just far enough from the noise so that you get a quiets night sleep, but not so far that you can’t walk to get to the night life. Staff will take you in the golf cart to save the 10 minute walk. There is a 7/11 about 150 meters away for snacks and what not. Can’t say enough about the hotel, it is top notch for the price and will now be my regular hotel in Bangkok during business layovers.

ONLY ONLY ONLY use metered taxis. Do not ever allow a taxi cab driver to fix a price. Once you jump in, make them turn the meter on, it is ALWAYS cheaper than their pre-negotiated price.

Walking distance from Rajawongse. Best tailor for mens suits in Thailand. Whos who of politicians, security, law enforcement, spies etc. shop there ie George Bush Sr and Jr, Reagan, DEA, CIA, HS, as well as those from other Western countries. Great quality... excellent prices.

Top Notch!

Loved this hotel, very clean and organized. It was a couple of blocks away from the main road but they supplied a complimentary shuttle and that put you a block from the skytrain. It was an easy and fun walk with food carts along the way. It didn’t include breakfast which would have been nice but there is a German restarant a block away which had an awesome American breakfast for $99 baht. (about $3.00)

Average Hotel

I was disappointed because I chose the hotel due to the high ratings it got in Expedia. I don’t think it deserves the 4.7 rating it got. The service was ok. The carpet was visibly stained. Breakfast was average. Room was larger than average but old. Gym was small & old. Location is ok. It’s a walk to the BTS station but the hotel provides transport to & from the station.

As you walk down Soi 11, there’s a nice English pub & quaint Thai restaurant down a small alley by the road, which is unassuming and inviting. Nice place to just hang out.

Convenient location but not so reasonable price hotel

Location wise is not bad, but price could be lower compare to other hotels around. Friendly staffs throughout except the doormen who are not so co operative in helping customers get reasonable transportations...as in not stopping some outside transport drivers who were offering some not so honest cab fare. Otherwise, overall services are very friendly.

A wonderful stay in Bangkon

I stayed in this hotel from 24th to 29th June. Wonderful experience, staff very courteous and goes out of their way to help you. Rooms are great, clean, comfortable and enjoyable. They are huge in size and also have two sofa couch chairs. Breakfast was good and abundant in supply. Area is quite central, many restaurants, shops and utilities, even laundary is in walking distance. Well recommneded hotel guys, do try.

Great Chioce for Business or Leisure In Bangkok

Very good location for all our activities. Staff was very helpful in arranging excursions. Very comfortable with very good breakfast.

A little oasis in Sukhamvit

The Presidente Solitaire is quiet and removed from the noise and congestion on Sukhamvit St. It is a walk to the Nana station in the heat. The pool is relaxing and breakfast is decent and included. The rooms are large and well appointed and the internet access was also included. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only problem can be finding cabs to return to the area as many don’t want to drive in the congestion of the area.

Traveler's tip

Don’t try and rely on tuk tuks or taxis, use the skyrail or ferry transport. You get there faster given the traffic in Bangkok and taxi drivers fares change continually. Take a card from your hotel because many taxi drivers don’t know where places are. If you have a specific destination in mind, ask someone from your hotel to write it in Thai so you can show the driver.

Wonderful stay

The hotel was great, the staff helpful and polite and the room rate was a steal for the 4-5 star quality of the room and staff. Restaraunts and shops are nearby with a convenient shuttle. The bathroom was spacious and had nice towels and flowers. The bed was comfy and the A/C and TV service (large flat screen) was superb.

Take the shuttle to nearby Robinsons for a whole street of shops, mall, & restaraunts. You will find everything you need here. The hotel can be tricky to find on the way back, have the cabbie take Soi 11 to the 7/11 then turn right, then left.

Nice place to stay

This hotel is located on Soi 11 which does not have bars and a wild nightlife. It is nice area and close to all the bars and shopping. Maintained very well and rooms have refrigerator and microwave which is nice if you are going to stay for several days. Staff seemed very efficient and professionally run hotel suitable for family stays also. Lots of taxis going by the place all the time which allowed easy transport. Overall, this was a good deal for the money and I would stay again.
