OK considering my options
Told me that they could offer an upgrade for $10 per night. Sounded OK but then they added other charges that otherwise I would not have paid. The room above me was very noisy and woke us up around midnight. Otherwise it was nice enough.
Check when the lighthouese are open. We arrived one week too late to climb most.

Little paradise!
The Sanderling is a wonderful place to stay, as well a the location as well as the hotel itself. Service and maintenance were on a very high level. We enjoyed our stay very much, it was relaxing as well as exiting (beautiful beach, wild mustangs).

Outer Banks for 2!
We have been to the Sanderling several times now. The rooms are beautiful and very clean! When you want a weekend at the outerbanks in the duck/corolla area, you have very few choices as most in the area are weekly house rentals. Sanderling provides beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas which is very convenient. Afternoon tea and cookies in main lobby is great but could use cold tea and/or water. Who wants hot tea in the summer? Only down side to this resort is the cost...room rates are high so I only go if I find a deal on Expedia.
Traveler's tip on dining
Go to Timbuck II shopping center for breakfast at Corolla light (french toast is fabulous!) and for dinner at Gabriellas Italian - delicious!
