Simply uncomfortable
My Place Hotel has few if any amenities to recommend it. The rooms are tiny and completely overwhelmed by the numerous massive dark furniture pieces. The carpets are gross, as are the drapes. There is no air conditioning, and during this very hot and humid summer in London, it was oppressive in that room. There are no windows--just doors to a tar-paper balcony. This balcony is connected to all the other balconies on that block, so leaving your window open for ventilation means it is also open to "visitors" especially at night. The phone didnt work, the lamps didnt work, the tiles in the bathroom were loose, the tub was very slippery with no hand holds. The breakfast offered was not bad, but the girls doing the serving made you feel like you were imposing. The front desk personnel were friendly, but not very helpful. On at least 3 occasions, they gave us incorrect information about the hotel and about London. They also offered to get us a taxi through a car service that charged us twice what the car service NEXT DOOR to the hotel charged us! Kickbacks? I would not recommend My Place, nor would I stay there again.
