Would stay here again
Nice place, good service and good neighborhood. If you want to stay in the middle of the London tourist attractions this is not the place, but if you want a good deal a few stops on the underground from most tourist attractions then this is where you want to be.

Never again!
Everything in the room (furniture, carpet, curtains) smells like somebody was frying bacon for days nonstop before our arrival. Any attempts to use the over-the-range hood to get rid of this smell only made it worse. Multiple requests to clean up the hood and change the filter of exhaust fan were not heard. We had to keep windows open at all times. On the second day a puddle of unknown nature appeared on the carpet in the middle of the room. (Most likely it was caused by a leak in water supply or sewage pipes.) Multiple requests to dry it were not heard. Terrible service! We will never stay in this place again. Speaking of neighborhood: This hotel is surrounded by similar small hotels, restaurants and stores of very questionable quality and reputation. We did not enjoy walking in this neighborhood.

great location
We were very happy with the Grand Plaza. We were at the end of one of the halls, so our room was quiet. With three big windows the room had great light. As people have mentioned, the location is convenient; a five minute walk to the underground, several local markets, plenty of restaurants and there is even a pub right down the block. Hyde Park is right past the underground and is beautiful (and huge) We had no problem using our laptop; very handy to look up local sites and plan your vacation.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
It is definitely a good idea to buy an Oyster Pass. It can be used for the underground (tube) and the bus; the pass comes with a map for both. We used it to go everywhere. You can also add $$ to it right there @ the station.
