It worked for us
This hotel was ultra new and modern. The bathroom floor was even frosted glass with lights underneath! Very convenient location right on the tram line- we were able to get to the hotel from the airport on a bus and the tram within a half hour or less. Then got around town quite easily with a tram pass issued free by the hotel. Downside for us was- no fresh air i.e no windows that opened in the room and smoking allowed in the restaurant was kind of obnoxious. Food was pretty decent and convenient but pricey- then again maybe not for where we were. Great Plaza with a fountain you can wade in right in front of the Hotel.
We traveled with kids and a grandparent. We were most impressed with the Paper Making Museum and the Art Museum. There is 24hr. discount/free pass available for Museums but check your schedule and make sure you can actually get to many of the sites within the 24 hrs. We found it kind of a waste for us because our grandparent went slow.

Clean, efficient, high tech, modern, Swiss quoi
The hotel is centrally located, very clean, good views, and with the extra bonus of having one of the best bars in Basel located on the top floor with fantastic views of the surrounding city and beyond.
