Perfect place in Nice
We walked from the train station with our luggage - an easy walk - and to/from the beaches and Old Nice every day. It is a great location, away from the bustling crowds. The front desk staff is fabulous - they couldnt be more helpful - and the rooms were clean and bright with everything we needed. For the price, you cant beat it. Id stay there again even if I DIDNT want to save money!
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
If you are flying out of Nice and want to use public transport to the airport, dont schedule the 730 am flight out on a Sunday!

My Stand-by
The Hotel Comte de Nice is my stand-by hotel. It is not luxurious, but serves the functional purposes with a very reasonable price. Since the tram has been completed access to the hotel is much more convenient. One can get to the Gare Thier easily and to and from the airport (Bus 98) or the slower (Bus 23) from the railway station. From central Nice and Old Nice, the stop is Liberation where the Rue Robert Thivin (a WWII Resistance fighter whose plaque is posted on the street) leads to Rue de Dijon. It is also convenient to the Chemin de Fer de Provence for other excursions. All in all a very well located welcoming hotel, moderate price, and just enough basic comfort.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Plan something special for each night. The Nice Opera has a variety of options - some last minute. Dinner in Massena or Old Nice makes you feel part of the "action". And there is plenty of action on holiday weekends. A trip to Cannes, Eze, Monaco, St. Paul de Vence, and Vence are all high on my list as are the Villa Ephrussi and Villa Kerlyios. The Mattise Museum, Chagall Museum, Contemporary Art Museum all are easy to access. And there are plenty of free things to do as well.

Great for the price, location, service and cleanliness
The hotel is easy to find, has a great location (its off of the main shopping street Jean Medecin). Its 10 minutes walking from the train station and about 20-25 minutes walking from the main bus station(Gare Rutiere). Its also very close from Place Masena and Promenade DAnglais (about 15-20 minutes). Rooms were very clean and were cleaned daily; personell was very friendly and helpful. There is a supermarket close by it (Monoprix on Blvd. Jean Medecin- get out of the hotel, make the first left by the fruit and veggie market and then the first right on Jean Medecin by Zanetti Boulangerie, go down until you will see it on your left right before the Mall). If you are on a budget and there not to enjoy the hotel but the scenery and care about location, cleanliness go for this hotel. Its so worth it! But do not expect a 5 star hotel:-) Its clean, has a great location, heating works well (very important when I went in December since it was pretty cold outside)and the staff was friendly spoke French, English and German. Enjoy!
