Impressed but .....

Overall the hotel was amazing, very romantic, great food, quiet. Friendly people, elegant and would think about visiting again. However, the beach was extremely disappointing, u can’t swim in the beach too many rocks and sandbags. Also, we paid alot extra to have a Casita suite and it was smaller than expected and had no couch in the room, so u basically had to sit on the bed for everything, which was annoying. Also, my biggest complaint was they offered us a massage adn than told us we had to pay extra at the end of our stay. I was really upset by this and had to basically argue with them for 40 minutes to take the $80.00 off our bill. Very disappointed about that. Other than those things, the place was amazing.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t ever fall for the "tour of another property" they try to sell u on other vacation packages and we fell for it and lost a whole day of our vacation. It was such a waste of our time. Just enjoy your stay and relax. Shopping in Plays Del Carmen is great, definately visit that area.

Great Pool

We went to the El Dorado for our Honeymoon...the rooms were nice and the service was excellent. The beds by the pool and by the beach were a great place to read and relax! The food was very good but, the breakfast buffet is wonderful but, I did get tired of eating gourmet food everday...you can get burgers and pizza but, I would not recommend that because they are not very good. Other than that we had a great time and I would recommend the hotel to anyone it was a great vacation!

Amazing doesn’t come close to describing it!!

If you are looking for romance and to get away for a trip as a couple, this is THE place! I have never had better service, and have traveled quite a bit. As a matter of fact, I’ve never written a review before. This was amazing to say the least. Get the Casita, it is THE way to go. It is ABSOLUTELY worth it! Everything was perfection!!!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Get the Casita, utilize the concierge for reservations, bring a little cash to tip lightly, and be prepared for relaxation.

Excellent Service and Food

We have traveled to various locations and our experience at El Dorado Royale was great. We spent all of our time at the resort and were able to relax. The food was excellent and if we had to wait for a seat we always could have a drink and enjoy the beautiful resort. The wind did blow the entire time and were not able to swim but there were plenty of opportunities to enjoy the ocean and swimming pools.

Beautiful hotel!

This was my 2nd time to the El Dorado and the hotel is still beautiful. My only issue is that the beach is not user friendly. Sand bags out in the water are unsightly and the sand is full of dead coral and shells. The pools are very nice though the hot tub near our pool was broken the entire time. Staff is friendly and helpful and the food at the italian restaurant was great.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Pass on the beachfront dinner for xxtra bucks. This is an all inclusive resort! Get reservations at the italian restaurant. No sand blowing and great service.

Relaxing...great pre-baby trip....

I really enjoyed myself at this resort...make it a point to book a casita. you only need a basic one. make sure you claim your beach bed early on in the morning. make dinner reservations! occasionally the cleaning staff was a bit on the late side...great food...kind attentive staff...

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Book a sunrise massage...so worth it.

Heaven

Unbelievable resort. From the moment we arrived, our breath was taken away. The hospitality was so wonderful, the food was spectacular -- the lobster lasagna, amazing!! The entire resort was so peaceful and elegant -- compliments to all the chefs and the staff -- what a wonderful stay we had. I have already recommended your hotel to family and friends. We were at your resort for a wedding -- and by far, one of the best weddings I have been to. Right on the beach, the whole event was spectacular and if I were the bride, I wouldn’t wanted it to be any other way. I highly recommend this hotel/resort!!!!!!!

What a wonderful resort!

This is a lovely resort for adults. The restaurants are quite varied and the quality of the food is fantastic. The beach is disappointing, but all the beaches in this area have been harmed by hurricanes in 2007. The staff is helpful and friendly. We were here for New Years and they did a great job with the celebration. Top notch dinner! More beach chairs are needed as people reserve them early in the AM, and if you are late...No chairs

Traveler's tip on dining

Be sure to dine around. The Asian restaurant is small but delicious. The fondue spot is interesting and worth a visit. Plenty of choices of kinds of food.

Excellent food and wonderful service

We stayed at the El Dorado Royale for our honeymoon and had good stay. The resort, food and sevice were excellent. We would recommend upgrading to the Casitas if possible. Make sure to eat at all the nice restaurants for dinner.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Would recommend Xel-Ha to anyone visiting the area. It was a great place for swimming, intertubing, and snorkeling!

Great place for anniversary or honeymoon!

El Dorado Royal was everything we hoped it might be for our honeymoon. The staff is excellent and the food is gourmet with plenty of options. The 24 hour room service is also great! Mini-bar was stocked full each day and with whatever we wanted. I brought $100 in ones to hand out in tips which proved to be an excellent idea. This resort is secluded and is perfect for a stress-free getaway. Lots of beaches and plenty of swim-up bars and pools. Definitely stay in a Casitta suite. You will not be disappointed. The swim-up Casittas are nice but a regular Casitta is probably all you need if you’re on a budget. With the Casitta section you never have to worry about saving chairs on the beach either. They have plenty of bars open late and a nice late night bar open until 2am (or later if people are still up for it). DVD library was great, too. The Martini bar was a fun change of pace and you almost felt like you were back in civilization :) Book without hesitation!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We didn’t take any side trips but our neighbors went to Cancun to swim with the Dolphins and said it was worth every penny.

very nice adults only resort

We really enjoyed the resort. It was off season so the service wasn’t as great as I was expecting. It was still a great place to get away. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and it was a wonderful time of rest and relaxation for my wife and me. Having children back at home, we really enjoyed not hearing any crying or whining kids for 6 days. We would recommend the resort to anyone who is considering it.

Traveler's tip on dining

Be sure and try all the different restaurants in the resort. All of them serve different things and all of them were delicious!

Perfect

Everything was perfect. This was our second visit, and it was better than the first. We didn’t think that was possible. Food and drinks were very good. Room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Beach was beautiful. Service including room service was great, better than expected. The entertainment was fun. Overall nothing bad to say. We will return again.

Traveler's tip

Walk right past all the people trying to sell things such as timeshares and tours. You can get any tour you wish at the resort. This will save you time and money.

Incredible!

My husband and absolutely love this resort. We recommend staying in the Casitas. Ours was on the second level therefore we had our own private infinity pool that looked out over the ocean. The service was impeciable and we LOVED our bartender Rodolfo at our swim up bar. We plan on going back next summer for sure!

Second Trip, Just As Happy This Time Around!

This hotel has some of the best service and best food of any all-inclusive in Mexico -- maybe the best. For this trip we were there for our friends’ wedding and the resort handled all aspects of that event very well, also. I cannot recommend this resort highly enough.

Traveler's tip on dining

While I know it’s not a financial possibility for all travelers, I would strongly, strongly suggest that if you can afford the Casita upgrade, you absolutely should. Not just for the better room, privacy, and exclusive amenities -- but most importantly for the dining perks. Casita guests get priority dining reservations which is important since some of the smaller, high-end restaurants fill up fast.

Perfect Couples Resort

My wife and I have been to several resorts in countries all over the world, and this resort is by far the nicest we’ve visited. The staff are completely professional, the grounds are immaculate, the food is good, the nightlife is entertaining, and rooms are unreal! I’m recommending El Dorado Royale to all my friends.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Go horseback riding! You ride for a solid hour, see crocodiles, monkeys, and ride on the beach. Also, do yourself a favor, and pop for the Casita Suites. You won’t regret it.

Hotel Review

The hotel was really well taken care of. The hotel staff were the friendlist people ever. They were always asking how you were doing and they wanted to make sure you had everything you wanted. The room was awesome and the beds were by far the best thing ever. These beds you could actually get a good night sleep and the pillow were excellent because they were not down pillows. Overall the hotel was great and I would go back any time. Great FOOD!!!!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

XEL-HA is nice water park where you can go scuba diving, snorkeling, and pretty do anything that evnolves water. It is also all inclusive, which means all the food and drinks you want. I would personally would do this trip one day. You should set it up so that you can see the Maya Ruins "Tulum" in the morning and then the go to the water park. These are in the same place and it is a great package.
