Great hotel, a little pricey
Fantastic hotel and great service...the value for money could have been better, especially when it came to the food/hotel restaurants, but overall a very satisfying experience. Recommended!

A tired hotel!!!
The Tamarind if very tired. The food selection was terrible and the people there are not very friendly at all. Our first night there the music at the bar was so loud none of us slept ... thank goodness we were booked for a 5 night sail with the moorings. at the end of our trip we stayed at Raffles which was incredible! Yes is was expensive but worth the money. The Tamarind has needs a nicer beach, a pool and better food before I would ever consider staying there again.
Go to Raffles and spend the extra money. You wont be sorry!

fantastic accomodations, restaurant extremely lacking
I wouldnt normally take time to comment on a hotels restaurant but since the island of Canouan is small there arent many other options for eating which are apparent. We (and others) tried getting suggestions for island restaurants from the staff but only on this point were they mum(from every other point of view they are fantastic). On the last day of our 3 night stay we did find Majellas which is not far but youd never find it if you didnt know about it (first right off the main strip). It was as expensive as the Tamarinds restaurant but with MUCH better food. And I am sure there are other places to be scouted out but not on the main strip which is lacking. The only food at the Tamarind that I would recommend taste and money wise were the pizzas at the restaurant and the ice cream (gelato!)at the beach bar. By the way, the accomodations are a dream....the ground floor rooms have porches that lead right onto the sand and the upper floor suites have kitchenettes and terraces. Just lovely.
