Great budget hotel, safe central location, lower Nob Hill
I was very pleased with the Fitzgerald. Considering the low price, I was expecting a urine-scented flophouse in the Tenderloin. Nope. It was a lovely, quaint Victorian hotel at Post & Taylor, which is a safe metropolitan area not too far up on Nob Hill. It’s close to bus routes and restaurants, and a few blocks from the touristy stuff (Union Sq, etc). Don’t expect the Fairmont, now: The lobby is no frills, but it has a small elevator and the rooms are chic and have lots of amenities. Walls are a tad thin and toilet a little loud. We got a free continental breakfast and a great view, too.

Excellent, great value for money
Chosen because it was the cheapest option (offer on at the time) but would happily go back and pay more. All the staff were wonderful, the rooms were clean and nicely decorated and we got a decent breakfast of bagels and orange juice too. The rooms are quite small, not too small to be a problem.

Great location and cheap.
The room was very tiny and there was not any air conditioning or screens on the windows. We adjusted after the first night and began to enjoy the location and the experience of being right in the city. The Hotel has a bed and breakfast type feel. If you are used to staying at chain-hotels, this is not the place for you.
