Stately old club in downtown Welllington
On a quiet side street near everything quayside in Wellington (and walkable to Cuba Street and the Te Papa museum), the Wellesley is a handsome and comfortable resting spot. Our room was recently renovated, electronically up to date, high ceilinged and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful in solving parking, dining and logistical issues. Only two minutes away, the Wellesley worked well as a jumping off spot for the South Island Ferry.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Even though the hotel sells pricey parking vouchers for a nearby garage, daytime outdoor parking is inexpensive on the Queens Quay, a two to three minute walk. Parking on the street is free after 6 PM.
