Not really impressed
Overall we were disappointed by the hotel. This is a 3-star hotel but it does not exceed it. Good: - well-situated. Walking distance to downtown Victoria, very close to Royal BC museum. - Nice lobby and restaurant with view on the museum. Bad: Noisy: a lot of traffic on the street. View on a building under renovation Room - disappointed with bathroom and beds. Spigots: not good quality, difficult to find intermediate position Bedding: we had 2 queen beds but not really comfortable (mattress) So-so: Swimming pool is small, located on parking floor. Furthermore, this is pretty deep for a so small pool (8 ft) and not convenient for kids.

Great Location
Absolutely fantatsic location - walking distance to everything and close to bus stops. Hotel also has complimentary shuttle to most of the spots downtown. Stayed on the 3rd floor on the main street side - nice view but way too noisy with traffic and bus stop right outside. Perhaps something higher up would be better noisewise. Rooms on the side look onto the current renovations so Id check with them if any of these things might bother you. Not a fancy hotel but pretty good for the price. Rooms could do with a revamp. They are renovating part of the hotel so perhaps everything will eventually get some improvements. Overall a good experience and good value for money.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Loved the Bard and Banker Scottish Pub and The Irish Times Pub - gorgeous decor, nice vibe and great food! The Empress is gorgeous but a $55 high tea is a little over the top. If you dont want to pay the ridiculous price but still want to experience The Empress, definitely walk through the hotel and gardens and enjoy a cup of tea and snacks in the Bengal Lounge instead.

Great hotel in a beautiful city!
The hotel was great. Only problem was parking. Wonderful to watch lawn bowling from the window, and greater yet, the lights of the city. Staff was very courteous!
