I’ll stay here again
Room was spacious, wifi worked great, staff was terrific. It’s an older building but in good shape. The only downside was the location. It’s a little bit of a trip from Downtown. I walked through some so-so neighborhoods because I really couldn’t figure out the buses. It’s a six dollar cab ride from the Powell Street BART station. All-in-all I was very happy and would stay here again.

Would stay here again!
The location of this hotel was great - the bus (which will take you to all of the popular places) had stops very near the hotel, and the hotel is within walking distance to Japantown, many restaurants, and shops. The Opal is located on a busy street, but the traffic noise was not noticeable from our room. Our room was very clean and the staff was friendly and helped us navigate the town. The Opal has a gated parking area for guests, which we were thankful for, and the charge for parking was a bit lower than many of the other hotels. Overall, we would stay at this simple, convenient hotel again - it’s a good value!

Very Nice place to stay in SF
I stayed here together with my wife for 3 nights at the end of October. Perfectly located as it is close to all major public transport, close to the city center and you can find all you need (coffeebar, restaurants, supermarkets) in the direct neighbourhood. We had a big room, with a a good bathroom. Windows have an inside and outside part and isolate the outside noise very well. Room is well equiped with a nice TV, coffee and tea pot, ironing facilities. Breakfast is basic, but sufficient for a quick start of the day (breakfast ends at 09.00 am!). We would certainly go back here next time!
