Very nice but services are expensive.
The look of the hotel is up to date and very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was internet access was really expensive for a 24 hour period. I should have done a little more research before I arrived in London so I wouldn’t have been so shocked. The breakfast buffet was ok but also expensive. We ended up going down the road about a block either way to get coffee and a donut or fruit in the morning. Much cheaper! There are a few nice restaurants within walking distance that are very good and reasonably priced.

perefect location for the Excel
was in London for the boat show. arrived by planed to London city airport just 10 minutes from london city airport to the closest DLR station from the hotel. 3 minutes from the DLR station to the hotel. 5 minutes walking distance to the excel building hotel was nice. very nice buffet breakfast. swimming pool downstairs was convenient in the morning. clean and new hotel. nice large room. perfect stay

Bad condition/Great service
First room had no a/c (in May) and the bathroom smelled like an ashtray. Told the front desk about the a/c issue and they had us switch rooms. Second room didn’t had a/c either. Asked the manager what the issue was and he said that the a/c system was only a two-way system (heat and fan). This seemed odd considering the thermostat had an "cool" option. The next day when checking out I notified the day manager about the issue and it turns out that it was an engineering fault and they had technicians coming in the next day. Manager gave us free parking (14 pounds) and 10% off the room. Very polite and apologetic. I have stayed in this hotel twice before and had no problems until now. I expect a/c in a 4-star hotel.

Take a cab to Canary Wharf for great dining. Choices of Argentinian, Chinese, or two great Italian restaurants.
