A great place to stay outside of Venice
Hotel del Lago is a beautiful old large villa outside of Venice. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. Parking is plentiful. Our room was large as was the bathroom, both of which were great. We arrived late at night (on a foggy night) by car and even though we had GPS we had a bit of challenge to find the country lane the hotel is located in. In fact, if you are driving (in Italy) I wouldn’t attempt it without GPS! The hotel is only a few kms to the ferry which goes across to Venice and this was very easy. There are small villages all around where you can buy wine, cheese and your basic food needs. We did not have dinner at the hotel as it seemed expensive (although we were sure it would have been high quality). We would stay here again.

Venice is amazing. Get lost wandering around! Drive around the small villages and stop and have a coffee.

Not exactly what we expected but still a great place to explore Florence & Tuscany from
Hotel del Lago has a warm staff, a beautiful view of a lake and is conveniently located just a short drive from the train station (where one can quickly get to Florence) and 30 minutes or so from the Tuscan countryside. No air conditioning, tiny bathrooms and only one (albeit ver delicious) restaurant in walking distance were a few of the drawbacks but the positives outweighed the negatives. Be sure to check out the hotel’s permanent guests - a friendly dog, horse and peacock!

Friendly Staff
This hotel is in a beautiful section of the countryside. The breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly. There were many places to relax and look at the lake after a long day sight-seeing. There is a wonderful restruant about a mile down the road for lunch or dinner. Will stay there again if ever nearby.
