Not really a resort
Being called a ’resort’ is a misnomer. Their location requires them to be ’independent’ - i.e. generating their own electricity, etc. Their food is served with style and sophistication, but is overpriced. Our room was nicely furnished, and was clean. ’Bells & whistles’ found in other resorts, however, were absent at this locale.

great service, great location
Although you may be put off, initially, by the resort’s proximity to the Icefields Parkway, traffic noise is not an issue at night. We were in a front room and slept like babies. The fireplace helped! Service was excellent, very friendly and guest oriented. The resort’s location between the icefields and Jasper Nat’l Park was also great for our purposes. If you’re on a tighter budget, stop in Banff or Jasper and get some food (resort has refrigerators), as the restaurant is rather pricey. The actual Sunwapta Falls is a short stroll from the resort. We would definitely stay there again.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Get to the icefields and take a guided walk or a guided bus tour onto Athabasca Glacier, a beautiful and humbling experience.

Excellent
At first glance, it appears to be a roadside motel just like all the others - but in truth, it’s a little gem of a place to stay. Very clean, tidy, well kept, friendly, quiet - good bar facility, good food. Only stayed one night, but would be happy to have stayed longer if needs be.
