Excellent Hotel
The Hanza has a wonderful location - our room overlooked the river. The room was very comfortable and certainly spacious enough. The staff at the front desk was very helpful in our request for information about rail schedules. Everything we wanted to see and do was within walking distance. I would love to return to Gdansk and would choose to stay at the Hanza again.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Be sure to see the Solidarity Museum - there are signs for it close to the shipyard. It is an interactive museum below ground which gives visitors a good feel for what it was like during the Communist era and during the period that the Solidarity movement was active. Very well done.

Hanza and Gdansk-- both a thumbs up
I enjoyed my stay at the Hanza while attending a conference in Gdansk and must say that Poland replaces the Czech Republik on my list of places to take my kids-- esp. Gdansk, though I hear that Krakow is great, too. Much less gimicky, touristy, very friendly people, felt safe, just very nice.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Malbork castle is wonderful and well worth the circa 50 min. train trip from Gdansk. If you get a train ticket, dont try at the regular counter, go into the International Sales where they speak English.
