Wish we could have stayed longer

We loved our hotel. We thought it was perfect for us. We liked the quaintness & coziness quality it seemed to have.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Our hotel was located in close proximity to a Tube station & bus stops & within walking distance to some tourist attractions & restaurants.

Quiet location, but not much to do

We enjoyed our stay at the Chamberlain, but it is located in the business district of London, where most of the restaurants are closed in the evening. However, there is a DRL and Underground located within a very short walk that will take you a multitude of fun places. The service in the hotel is pretty good, the front desk staff are very helpful, but the waiters in the dining areas seemed a bit standoffish if you asked them for anything.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

There is nothing open near the hotel in the evening, but ask the front desk for directions to St. Katherine’s Docks, which is about a 5 minute walk away and full of locals who can give you some great ideas about "non-tourist" fun things to do in London. We ended up going to the Greenwich Market on a Sunday when many exhibits are closed and found lots of great things!

Great value.

Excellent location in the City of London, minutes walk from the Tower of London. Perfect for business or pleasure, boutique hotel feel, highly recommend for the price.

Have stayed here many times and will do so again!

This is a quality hotel conveniently located in the financial district of The City, steps away from The Tower. The staff is always friendly and helpful; the rooms are clean and comfortable; and the rates are competitive.

Comfortable and good location

Very comfortable, non-chain type hotel. Located close to London Tower, and the Tube for transportation. Everything was perfect, except one of these days metropolitan hotels will provide free internet (or at least buried in the cost). At least they have an hourly rate. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Nice hotel convenient to City

This is a nice little hotel convenient to the City. Rooms are small but comfortable. I was in London in business so the location of this hotel was ideal for me. If I had been a tourist the location would have been a little off the beaten path and I would have found it to be on the pricey side.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The Tower of London, Tower Bridge and Brick Lane are nearby and within walking distance.

Very Nice- London

This is my fourth trip to London. I have stayed in different accomidations each time. The Chamberlain was a very good choice. Convenient location. Good Value. The rooms weren’t large, but they certainly were not cramped. The bathroom was nice. London’s hotels are always a little pricey for breakfast and the Chamberlain was no exception. But the food was good and more than just toast / baggle. The staff was very courteous and were a delight to interact with. I will stay here in the future and can recommend this accomidation with my highest rating.

Standard tip: Don’t pack so much. I travelled with 3 ladies for 10 days. One lady had 8, yes EIGHT, pairs of shoes. Their luggage weighed: 35, 40 and 50 lbs. Mine was 16 pounds. And I am a really large guy (think US Football lineman). So my clothes are much heavier. Pack lighter and enjoy the sights. Nobody cares what clothes are under your jacket.

Best Yet!

We’ve lived in Europe on and off for 7 years and this is the best deal we’ve had. The hotel is top notch in every way. Friendly staff, clean rooms, great location. It can’t be beat for the price, especially in a city like London. 2 blocks from tube station and

For unbelievable and affordable Indian food try the Haandi on Brompton Road near Harrods. And for the best fish and chips you’ll ever have, try Masters Super Fish on Waterloo.

Chamberlain was great

We had a great time at the Chamberlain last week, the staff were very helpful and 24 hr. room service was excellent. The only thing about the business district is that it’s dead on the weekends with all the bankers partying at home in their own neighborhoods. The tube stations north and south are within a couple blocks and once you get used to the closing schedules at off peak hours it’s a breeze to get around town. We would go back.

Traveler's tip on dining

The Tai Square next door is very good if you want something different and the Piccolo Bar makes made to order breakfast with a very friendly Spanish couple who will accomidate fussy Americans who want something other than an English breakfast.......cheary ohhh

Good for a moderately-priced business hotel

Hotel is clean, comfortable, good-sized rooms, and has a nice pub. Not many restaurants in the area that I found.

Very English Hotel

The Chamberlain Hotel had an excellent shower and well above average space in the rooms. The restaurant was okay, but the pub was excellent with a wide variety of beverages and pub food and plenty of people. The bed was okay, but not as comfortable as a good American bed. Internet access was Expensive at 15 GBP a day. It had easy access to the Tube.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Excellent access to the financial area of London.

Far exceeds expectations

It was definitely a pleasant surprise to us. We have always been warned about how small most hotel rooms in UK are - tiny bathroom, twin beds, no wiggle room, etc. But not this hotel! Everythign in the room is in good size, and it has everything you would want in a 4 star hotel - safe, minibar, heated towels in the bathroom, even a TV by the bathtub. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfy. Although it is rated 3-star by expedia, it is actually rated 4-star by UK AA, and it definitely worth the rating. We stayed there during weekends, as this hotel is in the business district, the rate on weekends was a steal! I would recommend leisure travlers stay at this hotel during weekends, worth your every penny!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is an EAT cafe right around the corner, a great place to have a quick and tasty breakfast.

Wonderful Hotel

My stay at the Chamberlain Hotel was wonderful. It was extremely spacious with many amenities. The staff was very helpful, and the proximity to the underground was very handy. It is true that being in the business district means that one will need to travel a short distance for nightly dining and entertainment, but this travel would not take over 5 to 10 minutes. I have traveled at home and abroad many times, and of all the hotels I have stayed in the Chamberlain Hotel is one of the very best.

Very helpful staff

The hotel is within a 2 block walk to the Tower Hill tube station, & about 3 blocks from the Aldgate West station. However, there is precious little night life close to the hotel for anyone who might want to stay out. The down comforters are very cozy, the rooms are very clean. We had 1 complaint: we had requested a wake-up call on our last day, but never received one. Luckily, we had awakened on our own, or we could have missed our return flight. I mentioned this to the receptionist, who showed concern & said she knew exactly who to speak to about it. However, they were extremely helpful in answering any questions I would ask.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Nicely located near the Tower of London & Tower Bridge, both a wonderful backdrop day or night.
