Wonderful Location-Spacious Rooms

The hotel is located just steps from St. Marks Square and the rooms were spacious, comfortable and beautiful. The breakfast room was very crowded and the food, although standard fair was not as good as that of another Venice hotel we had stayed in. If you are going to arrive after hours, you should call the hotel and make arrangements. The staff is not available 24/7 as most hotels are. We arrived late (approx 10 p.m.) because of airline delays and my family waited more than 10 minutes for someone to answer the door buzzer. We finally had to call to have someone let us in, Also, the very small elevators only open on the standard floors (1,2,3 etc) but the rooms are also located on half floors so you have to carry your luggage up stairs for check in and check out. We were told their were porters but never did see any of them. Just a note for people who may not be able to deal with those limitations. But overall, our suite was wonderfully spacious for our family of five, like having our own little Venice apartment.

best location, very spacious

If you want to be near the heart of Venice, this is it! Two minutes walk from the clock tower and St. Mark’s square, close to everything. You can enjoy the peaceful moment of the cathedral and square very late at night and very early in the morning. The room is by far the MOST spacious we had in Europe (I have traveled extensively in Europe). The price is a bit steep, but if you do Venice only once, this hotel is worth splurging! Our sitting room and bedroom overlook a very small side canal, you can watch the Gondoliers manage the tight corners. Free Wi-Fi is great. The only possible unpleasant thing is the small canal might smell bad in summer if you’re on the first floor.

Great hotel for families!

I was very impressed with the Suites Torre Dell’Orologio. We were a family group of 5 people and had a suite with 2 bedrooms and a small living room with a pull out couch, as well as a kitchenette hallway as you entered the room. It was very clean and very comfortable. In particular, the bathroom was very nice! The hotel is well located right off the Piazza San Marco. I found the staff very helpful. We would definetly stay there again.

Great location - Venice is magical

The location was perfect, we were right off San Marcos square and everything was nearby. The staff was somewhat limited in their willingness or ability to assist and their English was spotty, but always good enough to get by. (For instance, our room cost included breakfast, and they neglected to tell us that the first morning, so we walked all over looking for a place to eat breakfast.) The room was wonderful. We had four people in a suite with a foldout couch, and it worked wonderfully, also cheaper than two rooms.

More than expected!

This was more than we expected. The price suggested a nice, roomy, yet moderately priced hotel. This place was luxurious! It was so nice, we were sad to leave. The hotel is hard to find, but I think all hotels in Venice are hard to find. Venice is a virtual maze of streets and canals. I’d do a search and get directions from St. Mark’s square to the hotel before heading there. But, this is a definite must for anyone visiting Venice. Close to St. Mark’s square and a short walk to the Realto bridge. Wonderful amenities, friendly staff, and free breakfast. Primo!

Great Hotel with Oddly Limited Service

This small lovely set of suites was in a great location. It was a quiet, spacious, and graceful set of rooms seemingly newly done. But the staffing and breakfast room was operated from the nearby San Marco Hotel, perhaps because we came in the off season. They were nice, but a bit frazzled. The breakfast was very good, but always busy.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Take the complimentary trip to the Murano Glass factory -- a free ride over -- but feel free to wander Murano and make your own way back to Venice on the Vaporetto.

Great location

The outstanding characteristic of this hotel is its location: so close to San Marco (about 150m), yet the street is so quiet (the crouds do not take the turn on the hotel street because it ends in a small channel)!. This hotel offers suites (two beds in one room, a double bed in the other, a bathroom and a small kitchen in the alley) which is not easy to find in Venice. This was ideal for our family of four. The room was in excellent condition, with new furniture in clasical style. I am giving the room’s comfort a score of 4 instead of 5, because the bed could have been more comfortable. Breakfast was OK and there is free wifi in certain areas of the hotel. I would choose it again if I return to Venice.

Traveler's tip on dining

There are many restaurants in the hotel area and in the Rialto (across the bridge).

lovely large rooms, completely updated

Hotel was in a fantastic location, right around the corner from the square. The only downside was the front desk staff, who were unable to book us a water taxi in advance to the airport - despite 15 hours notice, and their pressure at checkin to take the "free" Marano glass tour. We declied the offer three times, only to be prompted to take the tour. Our porter didn’t show up in the morning to remove our bags, and when he did get our luggage, he left them with us outside the hotel. Instead of loading them onto a trolly and accompanying us to the water taxi stand, he departed and we hauled six bags some distance on our own. Overall however, if you don’t need any real assisance, I’d highly recommend this hotel.

Great experience

What a terrific deal! We received a beautiful suite of rooms with a view of a canal. Service was great and as part of the price, we received a free private boat ride to and from the Island of Morano. The breakfast was elegant and plentiful. We were minutes from the center of the city.
