Fabulous and in the middle of everything!

Great hotel - updated lobby that matches the 1950s architecture with the proto-modernism that is popular today. The rooms are appointed well; ask for a cathedral view so begin your day fabulously. Would come back again and again,

Would definitely go back

We love to travel and want to be comfortable and pampered. The Queen Elizabeth had everything: a great room, extremely helpful and friendly staff, a great location, terrific food, great spa, and easy access to all of Montreal.

Great Value, Convenience and Quality!

This hotel is connected to the train station where we arrived and we didn’t even need to go outside to get to the hotel. While the hotel restaurants are pricey, the underground mall had many very moderately priced eating areas, and you didn’t need to go outside to get to them either!

The Presbyterian Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul, about 10 blocks away has one of the finest church choirs in the world. Arrive an hour before the Sunday service and listen to the rehearsal.

Montreal’s classy hotel

Found the hotel to be very friendly and nicely appointed. The food in the dining room was excellent. So very convienent if a person arrived or departs the city by train as the hotel is directly above VIA’s railroad station. Room was just a bit small, but the appointments and the comfort of the bed more than made up for it.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Very easy computer access. If the business traveler arrives by train the hotel is a natural as a person does not have to bother with a taxi.

Nice downtown location

We stayed on the 21st floor and had nice views of Mont Royal and McGill University. Nice central location with access to Place Ville Marie and the subway. The room, although billed as non-smoking, did still have a stale smoky odor and you can’t open windows to get fresh air. Hotel bar was very pricey. $10 (Canadian) for a domestic beer and $16 for a glass of wine.

Traveler's tip on dining

Great bakery in Place Ville Marie for breakfast/lunch. Also recommend the 3 Brasseurs on rue Ste. Catherine for a good, hearty reasonably priced meal.

Lives up to its name and reputation

The hotel staff provided an excellent experience from check-in to check-out; reception, concierge, housekeeping. The amenities were a nice addition to the stay including the hot tub, swimming pool, steam room, etc. I would recommend the spa to anyone in need of a relaxing massage by wonderful physical therapists. The breakfast buffet in the mornings was a great way to start the day and the quiet atmosphere of the lounge and superb service rounded out a wonderful stay.

Traveler's tip on dining

Montreal is a city of wonderful restaurants and entertainment venues for the business traveler or family. Rue St. Catherine is a short walk from the hotel and filled with much to do for every interest. The old city is a short taxi ride away and a must see. Bring comfortable shoes as you can walk most anywhere or take the new bicycles offered by the City to all the attractions.

Had a wonderful stay; felt pampered

The hotel was lovely and the staff very helpul. We checked in after 6 so ate at the highly recommended restaurant in the hotel. It was fabulous and the wait staff superb. We had a wounderful time in Montreal and would stay at the Queen Elizabeth again.

Traveler's tip

We did the bus tour the 2nd day and should have done it the first day in Montreal. We were only there 4 days; would have visited some of the places on the tour if we had heard about them the first day. Highly recommend

CLASSY!

We recently stayed overnight once at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel. Expedia got us a great rate on a first class room. I had stayed there 41 years ago and was disappointed in just about EVERYTHING about the hotel back then. When I booked this, I did so hesitantly and was blown out of the water by every aspect of the hotel inclucing the room and the service. What a huge improvement!! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Traveler's tip on dining

The diningroom in the hotel nearest the elevators had very good food. The waitress had a good knowledge of wine and made appropriate suggestions. The seafood dishes we had were delicious. There was a dessert (French) bar with wonderful selections.

Nice Hotel in desperate need of a renovation

Overall we had a very pleasant stay. Hotel staff & concierge were excellent. Hotel lobby still very nice. However our room was in desperate need of an update; filthy curtains & carpet, cracked bath tub, banged up walls, sheets were not high quality.

Great Hotel.

Loved the hotel. Great location. Not a big fan of Gibson’s(spa) for kids. My 5 year old daughter had a mani/pedi their, very expensive, and they were not nice to her at all.

Convenient & comfortable

Good location, well-appointed rooms and public spaces, if a tad ordinary. Bi-lingual concierges very polite and helpful. Valet service speedy. The hotel restaurant was the only place in Montreal the service was mindful of my younger child--brought crayons, was prompt with milk, etc.--which allowed me to enjoy a meal. There were toys at the pool as well, though the water was uninvitingly cloudy and green...Also surprised to find the locker rooms for the gym closed in the early morning.

Ideal hotel in the middle of everything

Wow! This hotel was perfect for my granddaughter and myself as the hotel is on top of the Train station, and the subway system to everywhere in Montreal as well as to underground shops. Perfect for my husband as the casino bus picked him up right at the hotel. One can walk to Old Montreal as well as to St. Catherine Street. Only disappointment was returning to the pool at 9PM (earlier it was filled with young children) to find they were closing it. (Think it’s suppose to be open until 11PM)

Great Central Montreal Location

Hotel is located in the middle of everything - downtown, metro and Old Montreal is a pleasant walk - although a little lengthy.

Soso

Beds were not turned down, we were given a room without any view rather with a view of the rough rooftop.

Not impressed.

Fairmont Queen Elizabeth hotel is extremely run down and out-dated. It definately does not reflect the expected standard of Fairmont. The best thing about the hotel is the strategic location. Otherwise, i would definately recommend travellers to stay in a newer, cleaner, upgraded hotel.
