Average but clean
Stayed one night while in transit though NRT. Hotel and rooms were basic but clean. Location was convenient for a choice of restaurants, about 20 min to/from airport. Would recommend if price and proximity to other shops/restaurants are desired.

Mercure if out of this world!
My family enjoyed our stay at Mercure because of the proximity to the Keisei train Station. At this station you can catch the train to Tokyo DIsneyland and DisneySea about 70 minutes away. That station also has the bus stop for the Aeon Mall which has the Jusco Grocery store. These places are awesome. The hotel is walking distance to the Narita Temple which was very culturally cool! Enjoy every body. To be sure the Mercure hotel is no frills but nice and clean.
Near train station to get to Disney Parks and Tokyo City. Near the bus to go to the mall which is always good for kids.

Mercure Narita
It is close to the train, and a nice walk to the temple. They also offer free airport transfer. The restaurant was extremely overpriced and Id recommend you walk down the street to have your meals.

Never come back here
Very uncomfortable beds. Bathroom is a joke. Carpets and sorroundings very run down. Fitness club does not open till 10 am - pretty ridiculous. Not my idea of a hotel.
Traveler's tip
Use other hotels = plenty in area

Convenient, if not exciting...
I stayed here in Narita due to not making timely hotel reservations in Tokyo for the weekend. Located in the town of Narita proper, adjacent to the Keisei Narita railway station and a few blocks from the JR station. Hotel was clean, comfortable, reasonably priced. Staff was usual polite Japanese - English spoken, but also very patient if you want to try out your Japanese on them. First floor bar has reasonably priced (for Japan) drink and light snacks. Lack of vending machines for late night snack/drink a bit of a drawback. Convenient for airport travelers who want to stay nearby. If I HAD to stay in Narita again, I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Narita is not the most exciting place in Japan by any stretch. The Buddhist temple is about the only thing of real interest to the average traveler with time to burn. Both nearby railway stations have convenient service to both Narita terminals as well as into Tokyo (Keisei Skyliner is a bit faster and cheaper). Take Keisei into Nippori then transfer to JR Yamanote to check out the sights in Tokyo.

Decent value in Narita
The Mercure is a good value in the Narita area. Its proximity to the JR train stations is very convenient. Ive stayed at this hotel twice in the past two years. The room was clean, but the carpet had many stains on it. The bathroom was clean, but looked old and somewhat dingy. The room size is reasonably large for a Japanese hotel.
Traveler's tip on dining
A local ramen noodle shop is close by near the JR station. The food is cheap (~750 yen/entree), and the local Japanese seem to like this noodle shop

Inexpensive and convenient
The staff spoke good English. The hotel is within one block of two train stations. It is one train stop from Narita Airport. The rooms were small but in good condition. I was very happy with the Mercure.
