Stay at the Harbor Village resort!!
When planning my recent dive trip i knew that bonaire was not a luxurious island however i was still very dissapointed! I found the staff to be very difficult with even the most simple request and felt that they said "no" way too often. Too many rules!! The place was run down and dirty and the food was horrible. Keep your girls away from the boys at the diveshop...WOW! they work like a scool of sharks!!
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
the island is full of excellent restaurants. "Scene" at the end of the hotel driveway serves a great inexpensive breakfast! "Patagonia" for steak, "Unbelievable" for local fare and many more...none are expensive.

very nice
3rd time we ahve stayed at the Plaza. Staff were very pleasent. Building does have some appearence issues that need to be addressed. Rooms was very clean and comforable.

Diving good, hotel heading downhill
I would recommend it for its well-run SCUBA operation, but the hotel itself is in a slow decline. The Casino is shut down (no loss), but with it went a breakfast restaurant. Room information is dated, and our air conditioner required frequent resetting at night, using baffling controls that eventually stopped functioning at all. Rooms are, however, sizable, clean, and the main restaurant serves good food, albeit very slowly. Staff of a Travel Assistance desk were so uninterested in dealing with a potential customer that I simply gave up.
