Did well

It was a nice hotel for the money and shortness of time we had.

Great Hotel!

The hotel staff is very friendly and professional. My girlfriend and I stayed in a room with a queen size be and a small balcony (just request it) on the third floor. The room is a little smaller than most, but enough to be comfortable. There was no microwave or refrigerator, you need to request those when booking. The bathroom was clean and there were no problems there. The balcony was covered in bird droppings; there was no where to step where there were no droppings. The parking is indeed a small problem. There aren’t enough spots in the outside parking, so we had to use the underground garage. I had a toyota camry and it fit well with no problems. However, make sure not to use anything larger (i.e. SUV, minivan) The hotel is a 10 minute walk( about a mile) from the falls and its attractions, or a 1.5 hour drive from Toronto.

Traveler's tip on dining

Affordable all you can eat buffet down the street. Wal-mart is a 5 minute drive.

Breakfast very bad

Hotel is OK. Breakfast must be payed for and is extremely bad. Use the breakfast buffet to be found 100 meters away.

Would recommend if you’re not going to be in your room that much

If you’re going to Niagara Falls and only looking for a inexpensive place to sleep in, then this would be the place. The staff was courteous and overall I felt the room was clean. The things we were disappointed in was that there was no closet, so we had no place to hang some of our clothes and the shower/tub combo they advertise is not what we expected. The jacuzzi tub was nice, but the shower aspect is a showerhead with a long hose. Not long enough to stand up with and put over your head and made a mess everywhere. The room was spacious, there was some water damage on the ceiling, but that didn’t affect our stay. It wasn’t a bad experience, just a little different than what we expected.

This Hotel and the Staff was Amazing,

To start off, I had booked 2 nights at the Camelot in for a jetted tub room and was denied that room, so canceled my reservation. So I went to The Glengate where the last 3 nights of my vacation was booked for. I cannot even put into words how much I appreciate this hotel, it’s owner, the manager, and it’s staff. We went on our vacation to get married, and got married in our hotel room. The staff was so friendly, helpful, just amazing. The rooms are very nice and housekeeping did an awesome job keeping everything clean. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning a trip to the falls, I will definitely be staying there again in the future, and celebrating my anniversary there as well. If anyone that works at The Glengate read this, thank you again for everything.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Avoid the Camelot Inn, it’s a waste of time and energy arguing with them. Marine Land is definitely worth going to and getting the season pass, it’s a lot of fun. Clifton Hill has a lot of stuff and is a great way to end the night after you do other stuff.

Not Impressed.

If we have not gotten the honeymoon suite I think I would be horrified to see what the room looked like. The outside of the hotel, including lobby and especially the breakfast area, were quite simply disturbing. It was very unclean and gross. Do not waste your money on their "continental breakfast" because the food was 100% stale or outdated. The coffee was terrible and the tea clearly ancient. The "fresh pasteries" were slices of bread from a bag. However, the service we recieved from the employees was EXCELLENT! They all strove very hard to meet any request we asked of them and they were promt and very polite!

A Good Value

A clean, comfortable no frills hotel. Parking is free but a little confined. The continental breakfast was ok.

Very nice for the money

This hotel is a little away from the beaten track, but walking distance to the falls if you like exercise. We also walked to the IMAX theater and several restaurants from the hotel. The receptionist at the hotel was expecially helpful in getting us oriented to the area for our short stay.

Budget Hotel, but clean and comfortable - recommended

You pay for what you get - this is a good hotel, but with no frills. The ’continental breakfast’ is ’help-yourself’ out of a cereal box, but ok for the budget traveller who wants a bit more. Although the hotel advertises wireless capability, this was not good, we could seldom connect satisfactorily to the hotel’s wirelss connection. The area around the hotel is also less than desirable (suprisingly as is much of the Niagara Falls town). Otherwise - we really enjoyed this hotel - it is close to the Falls, clean and comfortable.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Make sure you see the fireworks on Friday or Sunday nights over the falls. Free, and very worthwhile. We found the Maid in the Mist a very worthwhile trip. The Bird kingdom was overpriced and not worth the money. Activities at Marineland was fun, though the dolphins and whales were in very small pools, not animal friendly.
