Lovely hotel

Lovely room, with a great view and a huge bathroom. My only complaint was that the shower sometimes flooded, although a floor drain outside the shower helped. People were friendly and helpful and the restaurant food was very good. Breakfasts are huge.

Best in Barcelona

Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya is the best, the staff is very friendly and the location is excellent. Two metro stations at 3 minutes walking distance and the system is very easy to understand and move around to see everything. We can’t wait to go back. We stayed at a room at the 21st. floor and the view was great. The restaurant is great, we loved to have breakfast and dinner with a great view. If you would like to party everynight, I recommend you stay at a Las Ramblas hotel, but they are more expensive.

The restaurant at the hotel is excellet for breakfast and dinner.

Not close to anything

The staff of this hotel and very sweet but the hotel is sadly lacking in comfort. While I was there, there was no internet in any of the rooms, the restaurant "ran out" of a few items on the menu and the bed was one of the most uncomfortable I have slept in. The hotel is next to the train station but really far from everything and very noisy.

Great location near the train station. Personnel accommodating. A little noisy. Forget TV unless you live for CNN/Bloomberg/CNBC. Restaurant is good with a great view of Barcelona.($$$) The only big complaint I have is that the mattress was extremely hard and the pillows were large and uncomfortable.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

As soon as you get there, familiarize yourself with the Metro (conveniently across the street) and get the T10 ticket. You’ll save a lot of wasted time on buses.

Would recommend, but....

I would highly recommend this hotel, great location, etc., but read before we went that we should check out bill--charged for internet that wasn’t used and that happened to us also. They removed the charge without any problems.

Good hotel, but not 4 star.

Service was great except for the bar downstairs. The beds were very low to the ground and uncomfortable. They were more like a type of cot. It was a great location . From there you can get anywhere in the city with ease. Take the bus, metro or tourist bus. Breakfast was very expensive compared to the surrounding community and quality. About $75 per couple.

Torre Catalunya ...WOW

The front desk was very helpful and let us check-in at 11am. We got the room at the 18th floor with the spectacular view of Barcelona. We have wall to wall windows on 2 sides of the room. The bathroom is unbelievably big. There’s a separate booth for each of the bathtub, the shower and the toilet. The white linens & the bed look all brand new to me. It’s like we’re in a suite although we booked a standard room. Breakfast is good too. They have hot meal and lots of cold cuts and bread. The location is not walking distance to Plaza Catalunya the center of the tourist area. But it is 3 minutes walk to the Sants train and metro stations. It is very convenient to get around Barcelona from this location. I’ll go back to this hotel on our next visit to Barcelona. I’ll definitely book it with Expedia. Highly recommend this Grand Hotel Torre Catalunya.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you plan to get around Barcelona without a car, use the metro day pass at EUR 5 or the T10 pass. To get to the airport, use the RENFE train it’s also EU 5 one way ticket.

This is definitely not a 4 or 5 star hotel, rooms weren’t updated at all, the bathroom was okay, didn’t offer any amenities, location was good. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.

Amazing hotel in an amazing city!!!

The Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya was beyond our expectations. We visited Barcelona for our honeymoon and the staff at Torre Catalunya did everything to make it as special as possible. Upon arrival we received a complimentary bottle of champagne (cava!) and delicious chocolate covered strawberries. The room was huge, clean and had an amazing view of the city. The train/metro was right next door, making travel around Barcelona a breeze! We absolutely loved this hotel and can’t wait to visit again.

There’s an amazing local restaurant called Mister Desayuno (Avinguda Josep Tarradellas 50), down the street from the Torre Catalunya. The food was incredible (very authentic) and the waitress/owner were so friendly! We ordered a large bottle of cava, plates of jamón serrano, chorizo and Pa Amb Tomàquet (that were more than enough for 2 people) and the bill was not even $40. This place was probably the best we had in all of Barcelona. Please go, you’ll be so happy you did!

Really worth if for the money

This hotel is not in Ramblas area but is close. Easy walk to fountain show and palace and right next to train station. Good health club and spa and rooms are big for Europe.

Excellent location

My wife and I stayed here for a week in June 2009. The hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful. The train and metro station are directly in front of the hotel. The rooms are modern, clean and spacious. There is a supermarket next to the hotel where you can buy just about anything. The only negative we have is that the internet is very expensive. However we would definitely stay in this hotel on our next trip to Barcelona.

okay stay, ok location

The hotel is right across the street from the south(sants) bus station which could get a little noisy. Could take a metro to center of town or around an hour walk. There are a few things to do around the hotel but overall i would get a hotel closer to the center.

Very Pleased

I spent 7 night at the Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya. Everything about the hotel was great. The staff all spoke English and were helpful anytime we had a question. The sans station is right across the street giving us access to all the public transportation. Beware of the pic pockets on the metro lines though. The only thing I was not happy with was the breakfast. Although the view is amazing from the 24th floor restaurant the food was not very good and way overpriced in my opinion.

Hotel location

This hotel is nice but there are afew drawbacks for travelers to understand. Most of the tourist destinations are cab or bus/metro rides which run about 10$ or more. The subway is across the square and a ride costs 2$. The problem is that at least one transfer is needed to reach most destinations and thievery is very high and they are very skilled. My wife had her wallet stolen out of her purse and while we were calling to report out stolen card another couple came to the desk with the same problem. So my advice would be to use cabs or buses, be very careful with your belongings and consider a hotel closer to your planned activities.

Shorttrip to Barca

Excellent 4 star hotel in very convenient location (directly next to Sants esctacio). Line C2 brings you in 18min to the airport. Would def. stay here again. Great view from the upper floors and from the restaurant.

good price ,clean modern room , great city view

I’ve stayed here for 4 nights with my spouse from 7/26~7/30. Check in/out was very smooth & fast. I did request for an iron & an adapter for my laptop charger, at both occasion hotel staff responded quickly & came to assist right away. To our surprise the hotel management also left a small birthday cake/card in our room which was a nice & thoughtful touch..... We ordered room service once from restaurant & also dined at top floor restaurant during last night of our stay, the food/service was decent at reasonable cost (70~ euro on full course dinner for two) & the spectacular night view of the Barceloan was added bonus...Did not try their breakfast as we just walk across the street to Sants Station food court to have quick self serve breakfast. There’s a bank ATM and supermarket next to the hotel just in case you need some urgent $ or stuff. We went to Figueres( 2 hr ride) and Airport(20 min ride) by train from Sants station right across the street which is very convenient. Metro subway (line #3 & #5) are also there. We did not even bother to take the city tour bus as we can reach all places by convenient public transportation. overall we’ve had a wonderful experience staying there & would not hesitate to recommend it to my friends if they are to visit Barcelona!

stay alert for pick pockets in tourists area such as harbor & old town area if you are to take subway and train, remember to buy a T10(10 trip) ticket for 7~ euro & it can be shared with your companion. extra 10 euro per day for internet access but

Loved the stay

Gran Torre Catalunya lived up to all our expectations. We stayed in the executive room on the 21st floor and the view was spectacular. The room was huge and very well appointed. The bath tub was also a good size. The hotel was right next to the Metro Stop which makes it very convenient.

Beware of pickpockets in the Metro in Barcelona. We lost the money from our pockets. Use a money belt. We heard this from a number of travellers

A great place to stay!

This hotel is located next to the Metro subway/train station which made it an ideal location to navigate the city. The personnel were kind, easy to understand, and helpful with directions. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.
