A lovely hotel walking distance to Palace Theater!

We loved it. The rooms were large and well appointed. The lobby bar service was excellent. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful!

The Brown Hotel is very clean, comfortable, and we were treated very kindly by everyone who worked there. It is a block away from The Palace which was perfect for us because we were going to a concert there. Great place to stay!

Poor, Poor quality

When we arrived, someone had decided to change our room from King delux to queen(whatever). Rooms were of poor taste and quality. Carpets were stained, bathroom plumbing leaked, bathroom sinks had cigarette burns on them, no complimentary coffee or newspapers(one paper in the restaurant), and room service was of little use. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Lovely and comfortable

I stayed overnight on business and found the staff friendly and helpful and the room very clean and comfortable. I arranged for the free hotel van to pick me up at the airport, a service I really value. The business ctr was clean and up to date. The only disappointing thing was that I arrived on a Weds around 8pm and apparently Louisville shuts down around 8:30 on weeknights so my only choice was to go across the street to a bar & grill. Luckily the food & svc were fine. I would certainly go back.

Good; pay your own parking

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Brown! Wish we had more time to relax in the lobby, but we had a busy weekend planned. There is a convenient parking garage attached to the hotel. We weren’t certain of the prices or if the hotel would validate it. They do not validate parking. We had the first night charged to our room - $18 plus tax, $19.80 total. We paid the fee at the exit gate the second night - $16 no tax, $16 total. So try to remember to read the parking fees on your way into the garage before you have it charged to your room. There may be a break-even point between the garage and the hotel charging it to your room, but I was too tired when we first arrived to think it through.

Good for business

Stayed here on a discounted rate for a business trip. Hotel is very nice. I was in a room on the club floor, so I don’t know if the beds on the other floors are as comfortable, but the bed in my room was amazing. Only downside is that Broadway is a little shady at night.

Traveler's tip on dining

Go to BBC across the street for some drinks. They have their own microbrews, and good food.

Elegant

Beautiful room and very friendly staff! Beds are comfy. Breakfast was so-so as a number of items on the menu were not available.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff

We couldn’t have had a more wonderful stay. Our room was spacious and beautiful and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We were treated like royalty by everyone. The staff was friendly, efficient and knowledgable. The Lobby Bar is not to be missed - so comfy and inviting. Dinner in the English Grill was superb and breakfast in J. Graham’s was fresh and delicious. We can’t wait to go back!

Traveler's tip

Be sure to visit the Gift Shop as they have a wonderful and unique selection of gifts at great prices.

Elegant hotel with that old southern charm, suitable for both children and adults.

Having lived in KY all our life, we had always wanted to try a Hot Brown so what better place to try one than the place it orginated? Needless to say, it tasted delicious! The hotel is elegant with its original woodwork and grand staircase and still has that old southern charm. We enjoyed the clubroom, just that little extra that made our stay even more enjoyable. There was always fresh coffee, fruit, and snacks available. We have already discussed coming back around Christmas.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Don’t miss the Louisville Slugger museum, kids and grownups alike will enjoy this. Also, visit Churchill Downs and take in the museum, just so happened there were races the day we were there, our first! Visit the giftshop in the Brown Hotel, lots of nice gifts. We went to the Horseshoe Casino in Indiana (approx. 20 min.) for a concert, did not enjoy the casino due to smoking inside.

Not for a younger couple.

The Hotel itself is an absolutely gorgeous. But if you were looking for service you better be over the age of 40. We are a couple in our late 20’s and were amazed at the difference in treatment between us and couples with a few more years in age then us. None of our requests were unreasonable, for example getting the room that we had booked and paid for, but for some reason we were treated like we asked for the hotel staff to carry us around the hotel on their backs. Parking in the garage is outrageous considering the price of the rooms. If you are looking for service this is not the place, but if history is what you are looking for, it is the place for you.

So-So

Yes, it is a nice hotel - rooms very large & comfortable, but rather disappointed. Paid for Club Level, but apparently most amenities available only on the Club Level + breakfast floor. One evening while turning in, found a large sticker on the bed linens - had obviously gone through the wash like that. Hotel was prompt to bring up fresh & re-do the bed. But how did housekeeping miss that in the first place?

Hidden Fees

While the hotel is nice and in the middle of Fourth Street Live, I was very disatisfied with the parking cost. The parking garage is part of the hotel, but it is very expensive to park there and this expense is not included in your room cost. When rooms are this expensive for one night, it is unacceptable that parking is not included with it, especially when the garage is attached to the hotel.

lovely hotel

Lovely hotel. Good experience. Hotel staff not very friendly, especially the front desk and the restaurant hostesses. Parking quite expensive, but good to have the security in downtown Louisville.

Beautiful, will visit there again

Check in and out was slow. Appeared understaffed at front desk. But hotel was clean and very nice.

Traveler's tip

Came to Louisville only to attend the Louisville Smyphony. Quick trip only to arrive in the evening before the concert and out the next morning early. City is interesting and would like to go back to explore more

Brown Hotel a great experience

It was our first visit to Louisville and we couldn’t have picked a finer hotel to stay in. The service was fantastic, the food and rooms great, but the hotel itself is worth seeing even if you just take a walk through the lobby. It is absolutely breathtaking - and so much history! Louisville is a wonderful city, The Brown a beautiful hotel, and we are most certainly going to make a return visit.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The Brown is in walkiing distance to everything on 4th Street Live and is the place to stay when visiting the wonderful city of Louisville. It’s so heartening to see, firsthand, a city government with vision in the process.

Friendly, efficient service; great bar

This old lady has a lot of charm and the lobby and adjoining bar is a great place to sit back at the end of the day and relax with friends. The staff was great. Will definitely stay there again when I return to Looaville.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you don’t mind some musical chairs with your automobile, you can save enough for a cocktail or two by parking your car yourself in one of the public lots, located a block or two neaby the hotel
