I stayed in this hotel Oct. 2009. The service was great and they really strive to please their guests. The room was clean...which was a major factor when I rated this hotel. However, the rooms did not isolate outside sound from neighboring guest rooms. This hotel is 5 min from the Ocean beach and downtown. If you are going to spend majority of your time touring the town, and want a clean econimical place to shower and rest your head late at night....this is your hotel. If you plan on staying inside your hotel majority of your time, then you probably would not enjoy your stay because it is not a State of and art hotel. Although, it has all the amenities that 5 stars hotel have...desk to work on, a safe to lock personal belongings, plenty of dresser space, and closet space. I would recommend this place to a friend.

"Typical" Courtyard Experience

Courtyard just seems to do it right. Halloween treats upon arrival - staff laughed at my corny "we’re dressed as guests". Checked in, left for dinner and exploration of downtown Newport. Returned and spent a comfortable evening. Had a leisurely Courtyard breakfast and departed.

hotel easy to find. close to all attractions. staff was very helpful for directions to places in the area. room was comfortable, clean and relaxing. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. We will be back again.

Convenient and Comfortable

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was in a very convenient location and the staff was very helpful in providing us with directions to places we wanted to visit. It was pleasant to have a dining room in the hotel when we did not feel like going out.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

We were pleased with our visit to the Marble House, a Newport Mansion. Also this hotel is in a location which was convenient for a day trip to Cape Cod.

water problems

The location of the hotel was good for us. In the room for the first time, there was a perfume smell that appeared to be there to mask a musty odor pervading the room. Opening the window helped a little bit. That aside, the room seemed nice enough. But the sound of water running through pipes would kick in frequently during the night and late evening. The bed was comfortable, and we slept well. The next morning, turning on the shower, the pipes started vibrating very loudly when the temperature of the water was adjusted to more or less the right spot. A jackhammer sound through the wall. One could avoid this by taking a cold shower. One quick, cold shower down, my partner tried to take his shower. In the middle of washing his hair, the water shut off, apparently because the room above or next to us had turned their water on, siphoning off all the water. We complained at the desk, and asked that room not be cleaned so they would not spray more perfume. The next morning, the shower was exactly the same.

Meh

Average - on everything. Less expensive than most places in Newport. Food at the bar/restaurant was not the best. Bus access to downtown was good and easy. But taxi service on a busy weekend in tough. Next time, we’ll pay more and stay downtown.

Great - except...

Best shower I have ever had in a hotel!! Only down side - I left my own pillow and very specialized pillow case at the hotel and when I returned several days later it was not there! The head of housekeeping told me "no one ever comes back to claim pillows".

The whole place smelled musty. Close to downtown Newport and for the price I’d say its ok as long as your not staying in the room other than to sleep.

Pleasantly Surprised

We arrived late, so the night crew at the main desk wasn’t as "cheery" as the day staff might have been. But overall, we were pleasantly surprised by the size and cleanliness of the room.

Okay place

Our room was clean, large and comfortable, but certainly not luxurious. It was initially hard to find because the signs were poor. It was fine for what we needed. We appreciated having the microwave and decent size fridge in our room.

Hotel was clean and a good stay for the price. Close to town and has a restaurant and bar on site.

Great Hotel!!!

This is a great place to stay! I found it to be very convienient to area attractions, easy to get in and out of Newport. It was very clean,the room was very spacious and the staff friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it.

Pleasant Surprise

Hotel was very close to downtown Newport and we had a lovely suite with several windows for our week long stay which gave us lots of room to spread out. The pool was nice but didn’t have many lounge chairs, the restaurant was ok, and the guest computer was incredibly slow. But because of our great room we had a terrific stay and would definitely go back.

Excellent value for the money

I only had one minor problem with the hotel. We went with another couple and were in rooms 121 and 123, right off the lobby and next to the back doorway. As soon as you opened the door to Room 121 there was a Lysol/chemical-type smell which my husband thought it was stagnant water but I’m not sure. It thought it might be something for cleaning since the cleaning equipment was right next to that room. It was my sister’s room and she didn’t mind it so much and it did seem to disappear after a while, but it would have bothered me if it was my room.

It was a pleasant stay that was fairly inexpensive and only about 10 mins. from the downtown area

Great food - rest of hotel was fair

The restaurant staff and food were great. The nightly dinner specials were very reasonably priced. The rooms were clean, but very cramped with a big wardrobe placed awkwardly in the room instead of a closet. The room had a microwave and refrigerator which was a plus. The only size beds available were double beds, and they were quite uncomfortable. If you are only sleeping 1 person to a bed, it would probably be okay.

Great getaway location on the cheap

This was my 4th time staying at this hotel and each time has been great. The hotel is across the street from the slot casino, so there’s something to do at all hours. A five minute drive brings you right downtown to the shopping and waterfront area. A ten minute drive will bring you to the mansions and beach. The hotel is right off the highway and easy to find. You will not find a better rate on the island with great proximity! As for the inside of the hotel, the rooms are clean and a decent size. The bathrooms could use some renovating, but for the money, they’re awesome. I’d recommend this place over and over again.
