Hotel Palazzo Abadessa

Hotel Palazzo Abadessa Residenza d'Epoca, located in the heart of Venice , in a very characteristic area near Ca' d'Oro , is a late 16th century Venetian relais, with frescoed ceilings, authentic period furniture, precious silk fabrics and paintings from the Tintoretto school. Guests are welcomed into the atrium with marble flooring, a wooden lacunar ceiling and polychrome windows with leaded glass that look out onto the canal, where the hotel's private docking place is situated. On the opposite side there is a magnificent spiral staircase, the only one in Venice, that leads to the first floor of the building. Official Classification of the Provincia di Venezia (administrative authority): Town House Suites 1st Category. Due to the tipology and the level of services offered, Venere.com compares the property to a 3 star Hotel.

Less than what I expected...
The pictures of the rooms were very misleading. I chose the hotel, because it appeared to have spacious rooms (by European standards) and looked romantic. The room we got was incredibly small and outdated. There was less than a foot between the bed and the wall. The complimentary proseccco was a nice touch, but by no means made up for the room. The staff was incredibly courteous and the breakfast was sufficient. Good location, good staff, but thats about it...
